It’s Summer McIntosh you’re thinking of, not Lionel. He couldn’t hang with these girls. //
Of course!! Funny that when I think Summer, that is what pops into my head. Perhaps that will change in the near future…(-;

I think top 10 is reasonable, maybe 5th if she has a really good day. Maybe short by your standards, but honestly this is a fairly long time trial by women’s cycling standards! Also OK to do events that are short and fast
Top 10 would be a great result for her and, though some people here might be disappointed by that, I think it would be fantastic! **I’ll take data over desire **when it comes to predicting outcomes, and the data suggests Taylor is just not at the level of the front of the women’s field. But…you never know until race day. Weather, flat tires, or just about anything can effect the outcome.
This is Dygert’s race to lose, and this course is tailored made for power and aero, which is why she and Ganna are the likely winners, not to mention the fact that both have spent most of the year training specifically for this and the subsequent track events. But weather may play a part, which is always disappointing. Pre-injury Dygert would embarrass the field on this course and be shooting for a top 15 in the men’s field but, alas, that athlete is long gone. Still Kristin Armstrong will have her ready, and that means Joe Savola will prep her bike, which is a sight to behold unto itself.
On data over desire, that is fair, but none of us have the latest data (as of say, last week) on all the contenders. That’s why we have racing!!!
How far if Dygert away from her numbers prior to the Imola TT worlds crash?
In terms of Ganna (and I know this is the Knibb thread), it is too bad Pogecar is not racing. I wonder how much better his form is now compared to when Ganna beat Pogecar in the Giro stage 14 by 29 seconds and if Ganna is in better relative shape too (less fatigue now for Ganna than mid Giro)

If it’s going to rain for the TT, that’s a HUGE gamble for her, can USA Triathlon (guessing she gets funding from then) stop her from racing?
Or how about this, she just slows down for the turns??? Live everyone else that will finish the race tomorrow…

Fair enough, I’d be fuming/worried sick if this was one of our Brit girls racing, I never even knew she was racing the TT till I seen this, whats distance is the TT, only a few days recovery for Wednesday.
They could have stopped her from racing TT nationals.
They can’t stop her from racing tomorrow.
Generally speaking, they let people race s/b/r races and non-draft triathlon, as long as they can explain how it helps the athlete financially and/or competitively and it doesn’t clearly negatively impact their triathlon racing.

Very short race, she will recover easily. And now looks like she might even have another day if the rain does its thing in the Seine…Think I just started a poem…

Maybe you’re thinking of Summer Sanders from the '92 Oly who just happened to also swim the IMs and 200 fly.

Having said that, go Taylor, let’s go get medal/s

That’s who I thought of. Of course,
a) I’m old, and
b) the Summer Sanders pool is nearby (Roseville, CA), an awesome swimming complex BTW!
OK, Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Right on Dev!!! I’m hoping she has a good swim and then just stands up and rides away from everyone, kinda like Lance did at the U.S. Sprint Champs back in '88 or '89. He was riding with Rob Mackel, who was always first out of the water, until around mile 5 when he just stood up, shifted gears, and took off. Mackel and everyone else had no response. Go Taylor go!!!

Her riding legs will be firing to do exactly that after the ITT. Will be interesting to see what she can do. She seems to be the same exact height and weight as Vollering. So neither has a body dimension advantage on this course, so will come down to aero position, engine and execution
Where are you getting a minute from? The Paris course is very similar in distance, elevation and technicality to that of the US National championship ITT. A minute faster would mean the winner would be coming I. With 49.6kph - barely been approached by any women’s ITT in the last 5 years for this distance. In fact, other that Wiebes’ prologue of 2.7k at the Baloise tour, Knibb’s is the fastest ITT for 2024.

Knibb is out on the road now. She looked so awkward without her visor. She’s wearing glasses instead of the visor.
Knibb almost lost it then when she seemed not to notice a speed bump
.
She almost decked it on a speed bump; rear tire lost contact with the ground, but she saved it. Hopefully she refocuses and keeps pushing.
I was sure I read that Knibb wasn’t doing the time trial? Did I make that up? Just seen her out on course.
Any idea why glasses and no visor. Is it so she can ditch glasses if things get too hard to see and just go bare eyes?
