As per the past two years, March is the last month of the Swim Challenge (which continued covertly all of last summer anyway).
I swam 63.5k last month, got busy with school the last week of Feb and found the following reasons not to swim: too busy with schoolwork, too busy with schoolwork, exam to study for + too tired. I promise to set a better example this month
Rules:
-Make a yardage goal for the month, or a frequency goal (x swims per week), or a time goal… whatever…
-Post your workouts on this thread (if you feel like it)
-Post your yards either on the spreadsheet, the ST log, or both
-Stay out of the divers’ hot tub
Keep up on my dryland including a bunch of swim band workouts
I have been working with a swim coach and really feel some improvement. I really feel like I am getting a much stronger and longer stroke. I am very excited to keep this up and see the improvements in races this summer.

A–made a nice pot of turkey soup for the family this afternoon. I thought of you ;0
Okay Alyie, I’m in! Perfect timing I might add too. My wife, Alexandra, has just selected our “big swim” for this season: an 18K island to island solo in Fiji in August. I’ve been out of the water since October and need to get it together now that the 100/100 run challenge is winding down and get my arms ready for Oceanside on April 4th and everything this season!!
Goal: 32k for the month
4x week minimum of 2k per swim
all at 1:30 pace or faster.
Yeah we’re not going to talk about the food cravings I’ve had lately… you would think I’m a vampire.
March 2 and Maine is getting SNOWWWWWWW like crazy, which means I have: run, cycled, made homemade biscuits for breakfast (me and the Pillsbury doughboy!), and probably will not get to swim today my “Setting A Good Example For My Swim Team” is not off to a good start!
I am in again…goal is to get in 55,000 yds along with two races (half mary and a duathlon)…Tri season starts in April so this month needs quality!!! (note to myself…)
After 3 months in the pool, I finally found my stroke. Ironically, my swim “coach” (who also happens to be a graduate student) was sleeping on the deck throughout the session. Her hard work is paying off.
So, count me in for 3 x 3k per week, roughly 40k on the month. I envy all of you that have access to a pool more than 3 days a week. I’ve contemplated bribing maintenance workers at the college to get more access.
As a masters diver I only need to do 6 dives, so I’ll probably go with …
1 meter board…
Front dive layout
Front dive half twist layout
Reverse dive pike
Front 1 1/2 somersault pike
Reverse 1 1/2 somersault with a half twist free position
Back 1 1/2 somersault with half twist free position
3 meter board…
Front dive layout
Front dive half twist layout
Reverse dive pike
Front 1 1/2 somersault with a full twist free position
Reverse 1 1/2 somersault with a half twist free position
Back 1 1/2 somersault layout
Not doing tower my shoulders, body, can’t take the impact anymore.
JGP - last year, my school hosted America Easts - D1 championships. It was like hosting a party! Posters all over the place with “Go Maine S’Women” etc etc. But the best sign was by the 1 m boards… it read simply, “ELEVEN!”
If I were close enough to come to your meet I’d TOTALLY bring a sign like that for you.
