Supertri?

Your American, I can tell!
Thought Olivia Matthias did great, she’s a very strong swimmer and cyclist. Shame for her that GTB was busy dragging the others up towards her. GTB is also a great cyclist on this kind of coarse.
GTB does seem to be hitting form now and I wonder if she will now stay short course. Perhaps , if she remains competitive.
Think Beth Potter still has some learning to do with regard to Supertri.Dont think she has ever done great at it. But she is still, in many ways relatively new to the sport.
Think mens Brownlee racing need a strong swimmer in their lineup. Noticed in the first swim that all the other teams seemed to have at least one strong swimmer, to give them an “arrowhead” and some fast feet. In contrast, Brownlee mens team were all stuck at the back in a line. Because although they have some decent swimmers , they are lacking a really strong swimmer to provide fast feet at the start.
Perhaps this will change when Jonny races, as he could be that one strong swimmer

2024 supertri E World Triathlon Championship Results: Beth Potter crowned World Champion!

Yes but that is indoor on trainers etc
I meant the outdoor format. Requires more technical skill and not just pure strength

She’s the reigning World Champion, so I don’t think she lacks the technical skills necessary to succeed outdoors.

Supertri courses tend to be a lot more technical than , say, Paris.
GTB really seems to shine on technical courses, for instance

one can also watch there

Yes, I think because there were 2 laps a short chute could be taken both laps. But the advantage was super slim: change of direction negated the few metres distance advantage.
Great final km for the men

Why did Cassandra get DQ?

And Wilde ran with one shoe? Lol

Unclipped helmet when removing bike from rack… same reason Lehair was DQ’ed there last year.

Great coverage broadcast from supertri today. No motorbikes affecting the race. Just a bunch of cameras at fixed spots plus drone shots. If I’m not mistaken, Michael Gilliam complained about the motorbikes when Waugh won at Tolouse last year.

Serious question. Wouldn’t Wilde loosing a shoe on the run course be considered littering and a penalty? I’m a huge Wilde fan btw.

What a great race for Spivey and GTB, both showing really great form right now, especially after Spivey’s first middle distance race ever last weekend. As for the helmet thing, its something they have enforced in the past, so hard not to hold the line. Personally I think it is a ridiculous DQ, just give a 5 second penalty and be done with it. As for the shoe coming off, not really littering in the pure sense, like losing your hat or headband. I think it is the right call the leave that alone, too many tacky tack things, which if enforced should just be 5 second penalties to keep the race moving. And also not to have the death penalty thrown at athletes at the end when they have raced their hearts out too…

Seemed like there was zero advantage as the non SC athletes had the steeper downhill and gained some momentum.

Stoked to see Spivey get the silver and move i to 2nd overall in the series… crazy given her T100 racing as well.

Toulouse is an amazing course and both races were exciting today, for very different reasons. What I found particularly interesting as far as team dynamics (or lack thereof) go, is: on one hand, Fullagar didn’t seem concerned at all with Potter trying to catch up to the lead group in the first little triathlon and just hammered it at the front; on the other hand, Vince Luis spent time at the back of the leading three until his teammate Wilde arrived to make that front 3 into a six.

And yes, @runningeconomy - the absence of motos was notable and excellent for the quality and fairness of racing today, especially on a “biker’s course”. I was so impressed by the broadcast despite there being no motos that I even counted all the static cameras they put on corners to cover the entire course. Ten cameras were enough. So much for the “accept motos or accept shitty broadcasts” dogma - it’s only partly true because you can have a racing format in short course where the lack of motos is no liability at all to the TV product.

the only thing to complain was the slippery carpet the rest was just fab

Enjoyed Toulouse, great course! Really interesting to see Potter and CB struggle and dare I say exposed on the bike on these courses, GTB is making it all look easy!

Wildes ‘bad luck’ continues (can’t ever remember anyones trainer come off, had to be Wilde!)

Seemed Tim Don got CB that DQ, and fair play to him for it, disappointed to see Brownlee racing at the bottom.
