Simon Lessing/ Athletes For A Cure Charity Raffle

HI! Deadline is June 1st. Drawing is June 4th.

This thread is in danger of being forgotten about so I am going to bump it!

Simon, if you are in St. Anthony’s to race this weekend, all the best…kick some ass

I have decided to Start out with the Florida 70.3 on May 20.

I have decided to give this a bump as I know that this Raffle thread can not compete with the Inside Triathlon Sex thread!

Just put a picture of Desiree on the thread and it can compete :-). Good luck in Florida 70.3!

Are you racing Wildflower?
If so, happy camping… remember you have to share the communal soap in the communal showers!

In 2004 I was taking a shower with Dave Scott and a few other unknown guys. One of them turned to Dave and I and asked if we had seen Dave Scott around. I replied that know I had not and that I did not particularly care to meet him, as I heard he was a @#$$%!

The Guy was a little surprised and then Dave asked him if he could borrow his towel!

After we got our clothes back on Dave went over to the guy and introduced himself.

You’ve established a dialog with an unknown man in the communal shower while both of you were naked?

That’s just dangerous…

Aparently, Desertdude has us set up at some house 10K away…but I’ll miss the camping like in 1996. I have to say, when I met Dave Scott in person, he was about 1 foot shorter and 50 lbs smaller than I had imagined this “larger than life” Triathlon Marvel Superhero to be…

bump for a good cause. If you haven’t looked at this raffle/charity sight please do.
I have met Dave Scott a few times. He was/is a class act. Still my hero.
Do you think any pro will have the fastest swim, bike, and run times like he did in Oct’ 82? I doubt that could happen again, amybe in the women race?

Done. This shouldn’t be buried!

Don’t be saying that Dave Scott is your hero on the Simon Lessing thread. Simon might take Dave out for a ride and put the hurt on the old man and then Dave might personally seek you out and put the hammer on you :-).

Simon, how are things going for Florida 70.3? Good luck.

…and for anyone that has not participated in the raffle, take a look.

Since Simon is one of the favorites, I thought we should bump this up before his big win.
There is still time to do a good thing and donate to a good cause!

I just went to Ironmanlive thinking the race must be over, and then I realized that being on the other side of the world right now at 7:45 pm that I would likely be just in time to “view” the live coverage from Disney70.3. It turns out they started the race at 6:20 am…that is a crazy early start time!

Good luck to Simon…too bad the ST pro smackdown with Bjorn did not materialize…

This is either the world’s longest swim or longest run to transition or the race “time” that Ironmanlive is using is messed up. It claims the top men out of t1 in 31 minutes:

RACETIME: 00:31
First out of the water was Bryan Rhodes, followed by Simon Lessing, Luke Bell, and Craig Alexander.

Exiting T1, however, it was CRAIG ALEXANDER (#3) in the lead, with BRYAN RHODES (#5), LUKE BELL (#4), SIMON LESSING (#37), and MARCUS ORNELLAS (#30) chasing with less than six seconds between them all.

Just got up and checked the results (it is Monday where I am). Good to see that the “old guy” has bounced back from a few nagging injuries to place second at Florida 70.3 to last year’s 70.3 Champ Craig Alexandar. Its just amazing that he has been competing at the pointy end of our sport since 1991 or so. I wonder if we’ll see both of them out in Kona this year? They both took their slots last year at Clearwater.

Congratulations to Simon for a very good race! I am even more impressed with Karen Smyers, wow! When you get old like me, you like seeing those with a long career still go out and race with the best of them.

I talked to Karen last year about how long she would race pro. She said she was having too much fun making money playing sport vs having to make money at a “real job” and as long as she could keep beating the young girls and finish in the money, then she would…then she said she’ll keep racing age group till she can’t race anymore. The women 45-49 better just be thankful that Karen is still making money pro and not racing age group and taking their Kona slots…hang on, no need to worry…as a former Kona winner, she automatically gets her Kona spot.

Simon has Kona listed as one of his races this year. Staying injury free and trying to do well in other races seems to be the balance that we all try to accomplish.

Just to remind you all that time is running out. The Athletes for a cure raffle will end on the 2nd of June.

Buy one or buy ten!

Simon, Congrats on a great race at Florida. I heard you injured an achilles??? What’s the story??? I am a big fan, and am so glad you are on the way back from the back issue…
