Any word on the ground what happened to Foley?
Not that Iāve heard, watch the ST IG feed, maybe Eric will post
Long put a gap into his pack to finish the bike.
Starting the run Meno is in the lead with Kanute 8 back, Salvisburg 2:15, Long 3:43, Lewis 4:00 and Szuch 4:41 and Guillox finishing the chase pack at 4:58.
Woof Foley with a double flat after all that work to get back into the mix, DNF per PTN and @Kyleglass91
Menno opening gap to 30 seconds to Ben
Yup only Long holding pace of the top 5. Everyone else running 10+sec/mile slower than both Menno and Long.
Kanute did his share of breaking away with Koolhaas with a few miles to go.
His poor run will mean heāll be relegated. Long, Foley, Szuch and Guilloux chasing but have not ridden faster than the front two, 3+ minutes down. Hanson 12 minutes down but has a pop at the podium. On form Koolhaas will run away with this. Foley a better runner than Long: I think so. Szuch riding out of his skin - overbiking? Probably.
Hanson 14 minutes down at T2. He will run up into top 8, on form.
Just spoke with Steff Clutterbuck. She started hyperventilating in the swim, got very severe at the turn and she pulled the plug. Going to gear up for La Quinta
Menno still keeping the pressure on and has opened a full minute on Ben (almost 20 seconds faster /mile)
Salvisburg will quickly catch Ben at this rate as he is only running 5 seconds slower than Menno. Long continuing to charge for 3rd at the same pace.
Already into 11th and may move to 9th by next checkpoint. He isnāt catching Menno but through 3k 3rd fastest split. I expect him to stay fast while everyone else slows down.
Just spoke with Joe Skipper. Pulled the plug and if lap 2, got a drafting penalty, base bars got loose, started to feel awful and called it a day.
What happened to Ari? How many Kona slots for the proās?
3 per
Youāre not getting one name right for dear life.
Menno*,* Salvisberg, Guilloux.
Feel for him (skipper) this year. Itās been a year to forget, looking at the PTO rankings itās been a tough couple of years. these young kids are making it tough, almost out of the top 100.
At current pace AS will pass Ben in about 3 miles and Long will pass Ben in 6. Long would move past AS in 10 miles at current pace to move into 2nd.
Itās a decline in Joeās performance, plain and simple. When you havenāt run under 2:45 in over 2 years, then people approaching and breaking 2:30 is not your main problem. Especially with 7-10ā swim gaps. Not to mention the constant adventures on the bike.
In my opinion, he has gone all in on āform over substanceā in starting this JYD thing with a Patreon needed to view his data, etc.
Maybe Hyrox wouldnāt have been such a bad career after allā¦
Anyone know if Ari missed a penalty stop? Heās still in the rankings but as NA. Makes me think he is DQ barring a protest?
At 8 miles Long is making up time on Menno closing the gap a bit and only 30 seconds out of 3rd.
Hanson into 9th and will make quick work of getting to top 7. Lewis in 7th is up 4 min but running a full 2min slower per mile and Cooper in 8th is 90 seconds up and running 15sec slower.
