Well I was wrong the pass happened much quicker lol
Long into 3rd at 10 miles and only 11 seconds behind Ben.

Koolhaas running at a 2:31 marathon pace; Long 2:37. Not sure if either can sustain this. Long seems closer to his capacity?
As expected Hanson has moved into 7th. 2:30 back of 6th and running close to 45 seconds faster.
Long running to get home before his kid does. I really dont see him fading much.
He lost well over a minute on Koolhaas and 30 seconds on Szuch…it’s still a long way.
Sometimes i really dont get these pros?!? Why is menno running so fast, no need at sll, sll it does is risking a spectacular blowup later on
Unless Menno has a massive blow up he has this in the bag. Sam has slowed to a similar pace as the chasers but has been 20 seconds slower per mile so going backwards relative to Menno.
Ben is still holding onto 3rd with Szuch passing AS and about 50 seconds behind.
This is a good pace for Menno, but not overly fast for him.
Jeroen
Can Hanson run into 3rd? 9 miles to go and he is
5 minutes back from Ben but running almost 30 seconds per mile faster. Could be lined up for a tight race for 3rd.
The podium is for Szuch, definitely not Ben…
With 5km to go, Koolhaas is very close to running sub-2:30, if he keeps the pressure on. Hanson’s record is 2:35 from 3 years ago but he is running 2:28 pace. Long running 3 mins slower - say 2:33. His PB is 2:39 from Nice earlier this year - but last split suggested a hiccup.
Kanute and Szuch shoulder to shoulder for that last KQ.
Long has slowed considerably the last 2 splits. He is in trouble to hold onto his Kona slot. Ben is only 30 seconds back and getting faster while Szuch has slowed to 1:13 back of long, but still running faster than Long.
Hold his beer. And Kanute will roll past Long who has bonked (trying to run too fast). Likely that actually both Kanute and Szuch will make the podium and KQ.
As always the timing mat actual distances are screwed and Koolhaas is on for 2:34.
Looks like a Long few final kilometres for Sam
Will suck for Sam, but i will be happy for Ben. Huge for Ben.
Sam still in 2nd and pace has picked back up. Only 2.4k to go. Ben 36 seconds back running same pace.
Goodness me! (As Matt Baker would’ve put it). Long has picked up the pace, still over half a minute ahead of Kanute 2k from the finish and even has made up a few seconds on Koolhaas, who’s potentially going for a sub 2:30!
Koolhaas wins running away.
Szuch has blown.
He’s not going to break 2:30. He’s looking at 2:35
2:35:37, Hanson’s record stands.
