Roger Waters?

One of my big regrets is not going to see PF doing The Wall. I saw them after the breakup on The Division Bell, but it’s not the same. Roger Waters is touring The Wall now. I suppose they can get someone to play and sound like Gilmour, but how good could it be? Comfortably Numb has to be sung/played by Gilmour.

Do get anything decent I’d have to spend something around $200-250 a ticket. That would be the most I ever spent on concert tickets

Anyone seen Waters live? Anyone think it could be at all a good show?

I’m about as big a Pink Floyd fan as you’ll find. I’m a tad too young at 38 to have had a chance to see the band before breakup, but I also saw the Division Bell tour, had a chance at the Momentary Lapse tour and passed (ugh).

Anyway, if this was near me, I’d pay to see Waters perform the Wall. Sure, this is never going to sound just like we all want it to…ok, but it might be the last chance to see anything of this kind. Looks like Chicago is as close as this gets for me, and it’s on a weeknight. Groan.

I saw Division Bell also…great show. I think I’m going to see waters with my wife.

I have seen PF 8 times over the past 30 years. Always awesome. Always hated that RW left PF, but times change and people move on. They are all great talents on their own. But they were best together.

6 x Floyd concerts, but never saw Waters. The guy has talent no doubt, but I prefer David Gilmour any day. He came to Ruth Eckerd Hall about 2 years ago and it was better than any PF concert I have seen which is saying quite a bit.

I saw them years ago when they toured for the ‘Animals’ album and again for Division Bell. Roger Waters did ‘The Wall’ live in Berlin at the wall with lots of other artists. I have the video and album. Lead guitar is Snowy White, does a good job, but not David Gilmore good.

I saw Roger Waters live when he toured for ’ The pros and Cons of Hitchhiking’. The show was just ok…

I would highly recommend you go see him. I saw his last tour where he played all of Dark Side of the Moon, and it was so good that I decided to see it again (Chicago then St. Paul). Their sound was great ,the lead guitarist sounded very good and had a Gilmour-ish voice that sounded great. And the stage show was excellent, with compelling background video, floating Pig, etc. Roger Waters is much more of a showman than Gilmour, and the sound doesn’t suffer at all. I’m a huge Floyd fan, and slightly prefer David Gilmour (his '06 tour was awesome, too - Echoes live!), but if this tour is half of what the Dark Side tour was, I would not miss it. I have tickets for St. Paul again and I’m really looking forward to it.

I can see the show in Nov. I’m torn between going for the whole experience and dropping 450 bucks, or going with the les expensive seats.

I freaking love that album, band… everything.

If you get Paladia TV, David Gilmore concerts are on about once a month. It’s an awesome eperience to see it on the huge plasma with the surround sound kicked way up.

I hear that. I was in 11th grade when they played The Wall at the Nassau Coliseum, 15 minutes from my house. All my friends went but my family was flat broke. I was helping my mother pay the bills and I couldn’t afford a ticket. Still painful.

I was in the far left section in Nassau Coliseum, about 30 rows back from the stage for one of the 2 US performances of The Wall. Great show; one of the best I’ve seen.

I’ve got 2 tickets for the Dec. show in the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, WA.

I saw Gilmore on Palladium and absolutely loved it, never saw the actual band but he played in Gdansk and the video and recording are on my ipod. Great show and great band. I’m pretty sure the concert with Gilmore is available.

I saw The Wall at LA Convention Center in 1979. I was just a little kid and had to beg for a ride. Jim Ladd from the Mighty Met 94.7 KMET introduced the band. It was an awesome show.

Roger Waters says he was Pink Floyd. I think it was David Gilmour. This song “Murder” is pretty cool:

Roger Waters says he was Pink Floyd. I think it was David Gilmour.

Floyd was a complete band all the way until Dark Side of the Moon. After/during that, Waters ego took over and IMHO Gilmour’s “sound” is just as important as Waters compositions.

I saw Floyd a handful of times from the very beginning of the Momentary tour; Philly’s JFK was I think the third show overall…

…and quite frankly couldn’t imagine going to see Waters without Gilmour. The only way I pay to see Waters is if Gilmour is standing on stage with him. Waters can’t sing, plays an average bass, keyboards, and guitar, and has created some of the most memorable albums in rock history.

I’m a HUGE PF fan. From a much, much too early of an age. If I’m paying 200 bucks to see Floyd it better have Gilmour front and center. Otherwise its just Waters ego once again.

According to something I read online, Waters and Gilmour reunited for a 2000- something benefit concert, and Waters expressed interest in doing something together, and it was Gilmour that wasn’t interested.

Unfortunately, I bought Gilmour’s On an Island CD. Kinda sucks

That’s the show I would have seen. Would have been 13. Just on the cusp, altho I had the album at the time. “A little bit of heaven, 94.7, tweedle dee!” Had a few KMET stickers as a kid

That’s a great song, thanks for the link

They did four or five songs at Live 8, 2005. It was Waters, Wright, Mason, Gilmour - and the first time those for played together in 24 years.

Now that Wright is dead, the possibility of such a thing happening again are over.

Which is exactly why I go to those types of shows whenever I can. I was sooo hoping that Led Zeppelin would have gone on that reunion tour. Honestly though, I don’t think Plant would have the chops.

Just bumping to say I got tix. Was going to go the stubhub route, and was willing to pay $400 each… ouch… but got some thru ticketmaster at face value in a decent location, so bought them. My birthday present to me  Looking forward to this…

Like post #7; saw the RW dark side show in atlanta 2 or 3 years ago. I am a music nut and concert enthusiast, as was my bud who went with me. WITHOUT A DOUBT, one of the best concerts I have EVER been to. The stage presence was off the hook. The large inflatables, the “theme” of the show (he started with a huge big screen behind him that was some sort of old radio). Lighting and sound. Oh and that was just the first set. Then in set 2, he played the entire DSOTM and I was just blown away. I will remember that show for ever. It will be a long, long time until I see another concert that tops that one. I am considering seeing the wall tour in hotlanta, too. Enjoy your show, you won’t regret it ($$).

Appears I’m the old fart of the thread, or one of them. Have seen Gilmour and Waters together and separate. For my money the 85-94 Gilmour years were by far and away the best. Division Bell and Momentary Lapse of Reason still spin away in my car, especially on long trainer rides.

Waters is a talent for sure, but from what I have read on the web forums there will be only 1 show with Gilmour appearing. Furthermore, there will be a lot of Waters new music and I have to tell ya, I’m gonna pass. That stuff he put out ~ '05 was just horrible to me, but to each their own.
