Profile Design T1, T2. or T3 aerobars

looking to pick up my first set of aerobars; just wanted to get some opinions on each of them and what everyone prefers.

They’re all crappy and overpriced. The vision tech bars that come stock on cervelos (or did up until last year) are the best clip on bars you can get. PD bars just aren’t that sturdy…specifically it is the armrests I take issue with.

i have the T2 and love them! going on them a year strong!

You are asking about pretty much the same bar in each case. I run T1+, they are sturdy enough and super adjustable, however the pads are a little weak, but work fine. Try out different extensions for the ones you find the most comfortable, I prefer the J bends.

T1+ for me with no problems. Work just fine.

I agree about the pads not being the most comfortable - I replaced mine with Cee Gees

If it’s your first set go for the one’s with J-bends as you’ll be able to fidget around on them more than straight bars and S-bends (although you can also hold them like straight bars as well).

That way you can see what you prefer and what position suits you better.

I use the T2+(cobras) with S-bend, and have been the last 5 years. The armrest cups broke the first season but the ones I got in replacement where of a better design. The reason for me to choose the + version is the versatility and especially the option to move the armrests behind the base bar. Great for a short torsoed person like myself, which at the time no other brand offered, not shure about today though…

T3+ has a very nice bend compared to T2 and T1… much better in my oppinion… also the armrests have now been made of aluminium, which is much more durable…

I love the T3 bars. Use to ride the T2, but for me, my wrist would get a wee bit sore after 3+ hours. T3 solved the problem.

Tried all three, currently on the T3+ - PD has improved this year`s armrests (all aluminum now)_- the armrests on my T2/T1 were all made of hard plastic, i know issues on them cracking came out a few years back. i like the bends on the T3+s look a lot like the more expensive syntace. just make sure you lube the bolts threads and instal properly as they have a tendency to strip even when new.

The plastic armrest on my T2+ broke this weekend, can you tell me where I can get a replacement. The lbs couldnt seem to find the part.

I think im going with the T3

after showing my wife which the bars I was thinking about she immediately vetoed the T2. She told me as a PT she wouldnt let me do that to my wrists

FYI…For anyone else who had this problem.

The plastic armrests are junk but Profile will replace them with alloy version free o’ charge. Mine broke and they couriered a new set to me no questions asked.

I’ve got the T2 S-bends, 3+ years so far… had ski/J bends before but prefer the additional range of grips offered by the S. Replaced the stock pads w/ CeeGees after the first several months and happy with that upgrade but really no complaints with the bars.

Personally, I think the T2s are hard to beat for the combination of modest expense and lots of adjustability, especially if you’re kinda new and still experimenting w/ position(s). Once you get it dialed in, then it’s easier to shop for an upgrade (lighter, stiffer, more blingy carbon, etc) if you know what position measurements you’re trying to replicate.

Some of the more integrated bars are super light/sexy/stiff, but you trade off adjustability. If they fit, great, but if not, well… You should be fitting the bars to the rider, not the other way around.

I use the T3 extensions on my Brezza II team bars. I used the s bend extensions on the Brezzas because they came with the bars but never really liked the feel on my wrists. Wrecked my bike, broke the extensions in the crash and switched to the T3’s. Best wreck I ever had! “VV” bends are the way to go IMO.

i have T2 - but wouldn’t recommend them. I’ve had issues with the arms on which the pads rest working lose (have to remove the pad to check and tighten). the arms have collapsed down a couple of times when I’ve hit a bump at high speed. Improved with loctite but issues like that impact confidence.

I run T2+ extensions on my 3T Aura base bar and really like the shape. I know that some people don’t get on with them, but despite having had wrist reconstruction surgery I love them.
Extensions really are personal preference and I think there is no real way to judge without trying them in person. It’s incredibly subjective.

a bit pricey to buy a new set -

try giving PD a call and have them replaced with the metal ones.

Sorry to resurrect a old thread but I had the same issue, emailed Profile design and they sent me new brackets that eliminated the part that could rotate on a bump. You loose the forward rear adjustment but they are rock solid now. email support and ask. Im much happier.

Now if I can just find some replacement pads. I ordered some CEEGEES and they are not cut the same and the stupid velcro wont stick so they wont stay on. Sticks. What sort of mounting solution is cheap velcro. The stock pads cost half as much but come with a nice sewn in velcro attachment strap.

I have the T2’s and I don’t like them…specifically the armrests. They’re plastic and I’m not a big person but it seems like they aren’t sturdy at all.
