Paula announced on IG this morning that she’s representing Canada at the ITT worlds in Glasgow.

Great news! No Press Release from Cycling Canada as yet, but I assume Paula would not put this out there unless it was offcial, official!
A bit surprised (given what I had said before - not to go over all of that again), but super happy for her and personally overall - it’s great PR for the Sport of Triathlon!

PTO US Open is August 5th and ITT is August 10th. I assume she isn’t doing the double. Someone asked on IG but she hasn’t replied yet. Said she’s doing ITT then heading to Lahti to prep for 70.3 worlds.

I would be shocked if she didn’t do PTO US Open - 5 days is plenty for here to recover to race a 36km TT. PTO purse is too big to pass up for a TT and she has been a big proponent of the PTO.

Agreed. She’s still on the start list so I think she’ll be there.

You can be judged not to be taking the cycling seriously.
Perhaps that was part of the negotiation: doing the ride for fun. Will her other competitors in Glasgow be beasting themself full-on a few days before racing? “Recovered” - mostly, maybe. Optimally prepared? No. Respect for cycling? Low.
Congrats for gaining selection: she showed how strong she was compared to other Canadians who entered the TT, in successive years.
So are you saying she will or she won’t do both?
I am doing both. And I am taking them both very seriously. And I am training very hard. And I have the utmost respect for cycling, obviously. Just to clarify. ![]()

I wish you the very best of self made (deserved and worked for) ‘luck’ both in Wisconsin and in Glasgow (and in Lahti). Will be interesting to see what the delta is to Knibb on the bike.

Maybe she wants a level playing field against those women doing that bike touring adventure around France a few days before ?
Maybe she wants a level playing field against those women doing that bike touring adventure around France a few days before ?Maybe. 12 days recovery from TdF Femmes, but that’s a seven day tour and a 22km ITT on 30 July.

There is 6 days difference between the last last day of the women’s tour and the PTO race. So yes, they race 7 days more and get 6 more rest days.
If you wonder what a 22km ITT can do to a person trying to win the tour, ask Tadej ![]()

Paula,
Great to see you on the ST Forum
Congratulations again on being named to the Canadian Team for the ITT in Road Cycling at this first ever UCI Super World Cycling Championships.*
Best wishes for this odyssey and challenge that you will be on - PTO Cup - UCI World Championships - IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships. That’s Epic!
*While I will be in Glasgow - Part of the Announcing Team for Track Cycling - I’m disappointed that I’ll not get to see you ride the ITT on August 10. I’ll be traveling back home on August 10, and then ironically traveling direct to Edmonton, to Announce at the L’Etape Edmonton gran fondo on Aug 12! ![]()

How do I watch the womens TT race?
For the World Champs tomorrow? (or anything) GCN+ is far and away the best and has the most coverage.
