At lunch yesterday I was reading aloud from the NY Daily News that over 18,000 18 yr old girls in this country have had breast implants installed in the past year. It is the new hot graduation gift ( no more new car). I remarked "I like small ones myself." One of the guys said "I like them all." He hit it on the head! Big ones, small ones, round ones, pointy ones. Who cares! Has anyone ever told a girl to get out of bed, go get some bigger boobs, and come back when she was ready for some real action. What's going on in this country?
And so flock the Sheeple. . . if you market it. . .the Sheeple will buy into it. . .
Thats really sad!
Yeah and the is a huge response on another thread about the peer pressure put on kids by saying God in the pledge of allegiance. Where the hell are the priorities
It is sad. I was watching E! yeasterday and they had this 18 year old girl who was going in for liposuction. Her mother had given her the procedure for graduation. What happened to a Eurail pass for a month of backpacking?
If she did the backpacking, she wouldn’t need the liposuction.
When I lived in Dallas, this was a favorite graduation or sweet 16 gift. That or a nose job. But, plastic surgery was very big there. Not so much here in the midwest. My take: Big boobs are just a pain in the ass (not that I would know); I can’t imagine it would ever make a difference with any guy worthy of caring for. It can, however, make a difference in a woman’s ability to carry on an active life style.
What’s going on in this country? Excellent question Sweeney.
Girls think modifying their bodies will make everything better- make them more desireable, more attractive, more confident. And in a superficial, looks are everything disposable world of relationships we live in- they are right!!!
When I had the famous “Tom’s hideous break-up” of 2003 the girl I was with had cosemetic surgery once and was going back again for more. It was about control and nothing ever being good enough. Guess what? We all get old, we all look like shit. What difference does it make?
I wonder if you could offer “empathy implants” or “better listener” implants or “integrity implants” or “accountability implants” or “honor implants”? How many people would get those? Probably no one.
The irony is all this is so temporary- just like most marriages. Just like most things in our society: False, manufacturered, transient and temporary. It is all about sizzle, not about the steak.
Hey, if that is what people see in the movies and on TV- that is how it goes. Totally disappointing commentary on our society and relationships and male and female self-esteem.
Don;t get me wrong- I am as vain as the next guy, but I have crooked nose, ugly grey eyes, plain brown hair and wrinkles around my eyes. but I am not running to the surgeon for Botox, hair dye and colored contacts.
not to mention the fact that they always require follow-up surgery every 4-5 years as far as I’ve heard… I mean, I’ve heard of this happening on a few documentaries on TV but I’d have never expected it’d be so common, I’d have thought MAYBE a few hundred a year nationwide tops.
All the women I’ve ever met/dated over the years that were ‘small’ were actually pretty happy about it (save when shopping for non-athletic clothes sometimes).
“I wonder if you could offer “empathy implants” or “better listener” implants or “integrity implants” or “accountability implants” or “honor implants”? How many people would get those? Probably no one”
tom, i agree, but i’d like to expand on it. i believe that nobody would get them, because: the people who need them are too detached from reality to realize that they need them. the people who would want them, myself included, would rather work for it than just get it. i believe that i could be improved if i had more integrity or could empathize better, or had more honor. but considering that i already have enough to make me a decent human being (i assume), it’s part of my value system to pursue better values.
hmmm. that came out slightly convoluted. does it make sense?
Art, I don’t always like your opinions, but that one made me laugh out loud!

But remember Tom!! I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and dog gone it! People like me. Repeat as often as necessary.
I’ve always said, “the best breast is the breast at hand!!!”
.
or “More than a handful’s a waste…”
.
Like 18 yr old girls aren’t already hot
.
maybe we can start a sister website to slowtwitch
.
I think that most cosmetic surgery is fairly silly, but this bugs me a lot less than parents that don’t don’t worry about whether they are learning (as opposed to what their grades are). Of course, my parenting skills don’t necessarily include being able to get a two year old to sleep (I just caved and gave him some milk) so maybe I shouldn’t be throwing stones here.
You’re right, that makes perfect sense.
I understand this venting but I think this is preaching to the choir. I agree with what has been said and how moranic this trend is. Seems loke a large % of these girls live in Oklahoma and some well under 18yo.
Oh bye the way I think it’s “more than a mouthful is wasted”
Like some many other things the parents need education before the kids will learn what is imporatnt in life.
My Granddaddy always said instead of implanting bigger ones they ought to just add an extra one…right in the middle of her back…“fer dancin’”
Forgive me…I come from inbred stock. hehe…
I have a 3 year old daughter and I loathe her coming up in today’s pop culture. Seems there are so many asinine influences on girls these days.
