I see the female start list and I say fullagar . hard to see Hauser not to win

I just realised its actually a race I have followed since 2004

They are super lucky with the weather as the whole region has been hit by huge storms over the last couple of days.

Fullagar has sent it. No Race Ranger this year. (Guess all the systems are needed for Marbella and Dubai)

Ya looks like Jess is about to catch some slow men pros. And thanks for this link, the coverage is great so far!!

Some of the short course guys didn’t get the “non-drafting” memo.:rofl:

Ya we see how much we now depend on RR. What is the bike distance between for this race anyway? Looks like a climb coming up, should get a bit of separation and perhaps a break soon

Jess is just blowing up the ladies race, should have a couple minutes on 2nd at T2, but more important a bit more on Cassandra. The mens race sticking together with a new leader. But I was quite surprised at how big the lead swim pack was, must be a lot of surf life savers joining the triathletes for this one. I recognize the name Mercer from the lifeguard Ironmans, think a whole family doing those..

And just like that Mercer crashes and the group is splintering

. I recognize the name Mercer from the lifeguard Ironmans,

..
The Mercers are Surf Lifsaving royalty here in Oz. His dad Dean and mum Reen were both multi time National Champions. His uncle Darren also National Champ multple times and his cousin Jordan was one of the best young Pro Lifsavers in the womens field and was the youngest female to win the Molokai-Oahu Paddle.
Sadly his dad Dean died of a heart attack a few years ago.

and Beaugrand gets a drafting penalty

I was thinking Cassandra was going to have a really hard time winning without the penalty with a 3 minute gap, now she will be racing for a podium. How the hell is the TTL guy!!! I mean I have heard the name before, but man he is on fire and challenging the world champion!!

He did get a WTCS podium in Weihai…not exactly coming from nowhere…

Free beer for the winner at the surf club is a great incentive for Reed. Welcome to Noosa:beer_mug::beer_mug::beer_mug::beer_mug::beer_mug::beer_mug::beer_mug:

What’s with everyone wearing their bib numbers that way despite the belts?

In Wollongong Fullagar ran 34:32, 12 seconds faster than Hill (who raced two days earlier in less wind in the U23). Hill has lost a bit on the run. McShane racing here after Kona three weeks ago. Was Beaugrand’s drafting penalty 2 minutes?

Yeah that is weird

What’s the prize money for this race? Seems like a big event there and this coverage is as good as most big events. Or is it just the iconic nature of it and maybe some start money?

Think I saw AUS$ 15k ftw somewhere, paying down to #10. Significant chunk of Fullagar’s direct prize money this year, no? But have to think she’ll stay chasing that Olympic dream (but fierce GBR competition). On borrowed TT bike.

The state of Queensland and Queensland Tourism ponies up a lot of cash to host events like this. Over 12,000 competitors for the fiour days of comptition brings so much money to not only Noosa but the whole Sunshine Coast.
It is one of the trendy “must attend” events for Aussie sports and media celebrities and the Celebrity Team Race is pretty funny to watch.
It is intrresting to notice that,as an Ironman owned event, there are no restrictions about mentioning any other event.
