No finisher's photo?!?!?!?! Damn!

Pr’d at IMAZ by 2 1/2 hours and ASI did not get a photo of me crossing the finish??? Bastards!! They had no problem getting one of me on the Death March!! Oh well, I guess I’ll have to do it again! See, that is what I need a tri-chick for (among other things but will keep it out of the Lavender Room)…

brian,

i bought my pictures and when I looked online, i couldn’t find the finisher one… i looked and looked and a friend of mine found it, god knows where… i would call them

This is more common than you might think. You cross the finish line with your hands in the air, the IM Arizona banner starts to fall…and covers up your race number.

I’d start going through the “lost and found” finishers pics and see if you can find it. This could take a while, be sure to do it on a highspeed connection and/or a couple of beers.

I tried that already and there was only two pages of lost and found finishers. I will try to give them a call and see.

The photo doesn’t matter. You own the race. It’s a permanent part of you now. I don;t have a photo from my IM PR race either and I give the medals away.

Keeping that stuff is bad voodoo.

Oh, here’s why I say that, Buddhist (Taoist actually) proverb:

“A good fire burns itself out completely, and there is nothing left.”
.

I am not sure who would want a medal that someone else earned. Still would like to have the moment even though I am going to beat that time in my next one. Makes all of the people who didn’t think that I could do the first one think even harder about how wrong they were…

You’re not that guy that auctioned his Ironman medal on ebay last year, are you? I hope not…

There a few Photoshop experts around here. Just provide them with 2 pictures: one of you and another of a finisher’s picture and I am sure they will come up with a better final result than IMZA would have!

Keep the faith! Go to “Photo Browser”, “Finish”, “All Sports” — there are 188 pages of these, each with about 12 photos. This is how I found myself at IMLP; I think I was on page 53 or so. For IMLP they were oredered randomly, sort of, meaning that there were a bunch of ones in the 11:40-12:07 range, then a bunch of 13:20-13:38, and you could bump up through the ranges that didn’t pertain to you. I hope you find yourself here; let us know if you succeed, okay?

I will be in Kona before you know it with photo shop!! Some of my buddies who partake in beer guzzling as their only sport, “I can’t believe you did all that in 5:42:07 but if I stopped drinking beer, I bet I could beat it.”

LOL

Take them up on their bet!

Tom, it’s a different story when you cross the finish line with your kids. To me those pictures are priceless. They, and my wife, helped me get there, so it’s only natural to include them in the finish.

Brian

Do exactly what bigsky says - I did not have a finisher photo at IMAZ eithrer when I searched on my bib # or name. I was bummerd. Happened to look at all finishers - very easy follow the times - took me 4 minutes to find my pic. My bib number is VERY visable - don’t know why I can’t search the pic by bib # - but who cares I got the pic

Ditto. Look under finishers and it’s easy to find your finish. Mine wasn’t under my bib number either. Although part of me made the “that bikini” photo series.

Good luck and great job!

Hmm. Yes, I don’t have kids but I do see what you are saying here. I agree with that.

Rob

Glad you found it!!!

AJ

Thanks guys. Someone actually hooked me up so everything is great.

I’m glad you found the pics. Anyway, if you hadn’t found any, me and Sergio could have testified that you finished the race!

I see this happening frequently - people crossing the finishline with kids family members? When did this start and what is the significance of it?

Years ago it never happend.
