people crossing the finishline with kids family members? When did this start and what is the significance of it?
I can’t tell you when it started, but for me it was a way to include my family members in the journey that they contributed to in an incredibly meaningful way. I am cognizant of other participants, and I made sure there was no one right behind me that we would slow up or ruin their pictures. Crossing that first IM finish line carrying my son, holding my oldest daughter’s hand, with my wife carrying our other daughter – this is a moment I will never forget - a top 10 moment. I would not have been there without their love and support, and to cross that finish line solo would have been very selfish in my book.
Just my thoughts.
In reply to Tom’s point about giving medals away – I will give my marathon and IM medals to my children. I am not sure they will “get it” but it will at least give them a piece of something that is important to me.
Peace.
LOLOLOLOLOLOL what the hell are you doing with a portuguese flag!!!
As Monk was coming down the finishers chute, he just grabbed the flag from SAC!!!
