Here’s Tkachuk spearing a guy last night. Not a peep from DPS thus far.

The spear reminded me of Ovechkin’s retaliation with a from behind, between the legs, lift checking motion to the scrotum spear some years back that went without action to correct. Are there not an assortment of retaliatory cheap shots delivered in each and every game of the season?
Most times it is the usual suspects perpetrating and sometimes the policing action works to settle scores. I see it as No (real and lasting) harm then No foul.
A fine line exists between throwing chin music and brushing back an over aggressive leaning in batter. Fine lines on how and where one is speared too?
This should be a fine or maybe one game.
But given that he has no priors and that he plays for the Leafs… I’ll predict 3 games.

I wonder what words were spoken. Usually something about dropping gloves. I guess these guys like stick fights.

The Leaf is Pierre Engval he’s 6’5â€. 220. Plays like he’s 5’9, 170.
I can’t recall him ever throwing a hit.
There’s no way that love tap hurt Durzi.
Watching the replays of the game I saw that some chippiness and a fight had preceded the Engvall incident. Your boys are rolling and that was a frustrated LA Kings outfit out there on the ice.
Durzi was pissy because he had 200 friends/family come to the game (he’s a local boy) and his team was pathetic.
Someone just post a link to a highlight reel of Brad Marchand’s career and /thread.

What was the intent in what he did. The intent was to hit him in the head. Doesn’t matter how hard. It’s the intent.
Sure. And he barely touched him. No word from DPS yet so he might get away with just the 5 and game he got last night.

Doesn’t matter if he even touched him. The intent was to hit him in the head. I had a kid in a game once who was out of control. This kid got hit, got up and helicoptered his stick in the air and attempted to take off the opposing kids head. Had he connected, it would not have been good. I gave him 5, and a game misconduct. He went to the “tribunal” and got an extra 10 games. It was the right call. Anything to the head and you are gone.
DOS just chimed in. He will have a hearing.
If you read my original post I said that I thought he deserved a game or a fine.
Anything more than a game for this is overkill.
He will get 2 or 3. Because Leafs.

And I don’t think you are reading my posts.
Sticks swung to the head are no joke. The intent was to hit the head. He should get 3. Full stop.

Sure, in an unprecedented world I would agree. Give him 5 or even 10. I am all for harsh discipline.
However, we don’t live in that world. We live in the world where the NHL routinely gives out fines for this kind of stuff.
To be frank, the NHL could suspend him for the whole season, he sucks and is easily replaceable. I don’t care about Engval. I care about consistency of discipline. And that doesn’t exist in the NHL.
He will get probably 3 game. If he played for Minnesota, it would likely be a fine.
Like this one…
NHL DPS got it right for once.
One game.

DPS is busy these days.
Skinner gets three games for doing what Matthews did last year and got two games.

The only difference I can see is that Skinner has had 1 previous suspension.
How many games for Chabot?

WTF? Without context this perplexes. You do raise an interesting question though. Do player safety rules extend to friendly fire on the bench?
Penny Oleksiak’s brother gets three games.

So I had to google fu Penny. THSTTTF.
Glad I was not in attendance as our seats are on that baseline. He was not knocked out but the announcers called him groggy and needing help to get off the ice and into the locker room. He did not return. Maybe he will chuckle telling of how on the night he earned his first point in the NHL, he also got cold cocked with a chicken wing elbow.
No question here about the call. $74,000 less on his next pay check. Called a match penalty so the refs were also in step.
This past week has been a bit testy. Your thread timing was prescient
