New Trek Speed Concept

Yes- we moved the 12 speed rings over to the 11 Speed D/A power meter- its not cosmetically perfect, but works fine. I think this is the approach some ProTour Shimano sponsored teams use as well.

Confirmedā€¦ the BTA part I was sent was for the previous generation SCā€¦ despite what the service manual and online system showed. I have a few things placed on backorder, hopefully get it all soon.

Looking at new arm cups now, the stock ones arenā€™t doing it for me and Iā€™m not a huge fan of the current 51Speedshops. I was thinking about the Tririg Scoops but Iā€™m not sure if they can be installed without interfering with the shape of the bars.

Steve, so I can use a 11-speed chain ring with the 12-speed chain? I need to find a Q ring in a bad way, there is no problem finding the 11-speed version.

You can run an 11 speed shimano chain ring on shimano 12 speed. ThereĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢s plenty of people running 12 speed chains on 11 speed components. Not sure about q rings.

I really wish it was forward compatible since my SRM will be for the 9200 rings, but there is no idea when the 9200 54/40 chainrings or crankset will be available. I will most likely miss my 55/42 though!

Hey all, in regards to the BTA, I wanted to let you know that it looks like the current and final ETA is 5/2/22 for the in-stock date as of this hour. Just noticed the update while I am out east on a backcountry tripā€¦

Anyhow, part number **W5269794 **is for the complete assembly with the bottle. This is the part number you can provide your retailer for ordering the BTA!

Thanks Mitch. What about the bta hardware to mount a regular round bottle?

My shop sent me info on ordering the Garmin mount for the SC - they want $95 for that mount- No MFing way!

Iā€™m probably going to play with 3d printed XL low mounts. I have one and taken it out on two bumpy rides and itā€™s holding up so far.

Trek should be ashamed for selling a damn garmin mount for $95 after spending $10k on a bike

Thanks, Mitch. I stopped by my Trek shop today. They can see the part in the system. They can see that its in-stock date is 5/2. But they didnā€™t seem to be able to order it yet and werenā€™t sure when they would be able to do so. Anything you know about when it will be able to be ordered? Thanks.

I have not heard of any product like this, weā€™re just focused on the BTA.

However, this product would work for standard round bottles in the interim: https://profile-design.com/.../products/hc-mount-1

The ability to order it should open up sometime in April - Iā€™m assuming that is the the plan since it was the original go-live date.

The part Iā€™m referring to is shown on page 22 of the service manual. It states its part # 512178 which is the same part number for the gen 2 SC BTA mount. It appears the part number shown in the service manual is incorrect.

Gotcha, I see what you are referencing now - I was off track.

So that P/N is definitely incorrect. Our product team edited that in the manual but it looks like the updated manual needs re-uploaded. The correct P/N is W5284485. There isnā€™t a release date for this item yet as of this hour, but we may see something change after the BTA makes circulation.

Mitch, thanks for all your help here. Iā€™ve been trying to keep up but itā€™s a little confusing (or perhaps Iā€™m just confused).

What are the options, from Trek (preferably) or otherwise, for: (a) BTA; (b) computer mount; and (c) behind the seat bottlecage(s)?

Regarding the BTA, Iā€™m just surprised it didnā€™t come with the bike. After all, itā€™s in the ownersā€™ manual, and even, right now, itā€™s advertised on the Trek website (ex, ā€œA better between-the-arms bottleā€ in which the aero benefits are praised).

Also, is it true that with the SLR-9 Etap, there are no shifters on the base bar (just on the aero extensions)?

Any help is appreciated.

I had to order these separately:

BTA (was not avail to order til recently. WaitingĆ¢ā‚¬Ā¦ ETA til May?)
Front mount bracket for Garmin and light (Waiting)
Rear light bracket. Received
Rear seat bottle cage bracket. Received

The down tube aero frame bottle came stock.

Rear seat bottle cage bracket. Received

Was this an aftermarket part from another mfg or something you ordered from trek? I havenā€™t seen any offering from trek.

ItĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢s a Trek (Bontrager) component that can accommodate single and dual cage config.

Iā€™ll outline all the accessories here off the top of my head.
BTA Bottle & Assembly - W5269794
BTA bottle cage bracket (standard cage mounting) - W5284485Blendr Duo Base & Computer Mount - 5284245Blendr Mono Base & Computer Mount - 5284244Hilo Integrated Speed Storage (behind the saddle for Bontrager Hilo saddles) - 542985
Most accessories are optional since every rider has different needs, but these would all be additional items that wouldnā€™t come with the Speed Concept. The DT bottle, DT storage, and bento are all included/integrated accessories.

As for the shifters on the eTap models, they would just be the Clics on the bar ends, but there is room to add additional Blips on the base bar.

Hope that helps!

MitchĆ¢ā‚¬Ā¦ any news on the release of the adapter to allow the use of standard aero bars? IĆ¢ā‚¬ā„¢m not getting along with this front end so far!

These would mount right up on top of the trek stackĆ¢ā‚¬Ā¦.just gotta get creative with the removing the pins and spacer on the top of the trek piece.

https://drag2zero.co.uk/product/pole-clamp/?v=7516fd43adaa

Wattshop has an angle adjuster that can go on top too, than slap a pole clamp on top of it.

Lots of options out there if your willing to get a little creative.
