Rumors are starting to come out about a new Tri bike from QR coming out soon. Anyone see any pics or any idea of what this new bike might look like?
Yes, its being released I think tomorrow. I’ve seen pics (online) but don’t know how to get them here so I’m sure that can be updated tomorrow. It not a a drastically changed bike from the PR5/6 like some other manufactures have done, but seems to have some nice improvements that they claim make it faster and do not create a giant eye sore. Looks pretty solid to me.
here it is: the V-PR… MSRP $8,840 and will be announced on Thursday Nov 4.
Those rumors were out months ago. I remember seeing a pic of it 3-4mo ago somewhere.
It’ll be very interesting to see the data, what they release and if they went against any of the current top tier bikes.

I’m fairly sure Hanson did some testing for them. But, I assume he can’t share beyond what QR decides to publish.
I don’t see a lot of evolution in this bike. Some slight refinements (presumably), but nothing transformative. I always thought PR5/6s borrowed a lot from other bikes, most notably the Trek Speed Concept, but I don’t see a lot here to suggest they have copied recent innovations from Cervelo, Scott, Orbea, Canyon, etc.
Maybe the numbers suggest the bike is fast. I’m reacting to the look.
Looks like a decent amount of change from the PRsix.
Thinner non-bayonet style fork and complete head tube redesign.Filled in bottom bracket junction.Seat tube completely redesigned with the storage box integrated. Thinner seatpost to accomodate #3.Dropped seatstays.Slight compensation triangle at top tube/seat tube junction. The cockpit/stem setup looks completely different.

it’s pretty new. very much a new mold, throughout. the launch date rumors are pretty accurate. i’ll have the answers to youses questions at launch.
Would have thought they’d follow the trend when it comes to forks, but I guess not. A lot of change, but cosmetically very similar.
Assuming that MSRP is for the bike shown with full DA including power meter, those HED race wheels and all the grubbins that is a pretty sweet deal. It also means a build with Ultegra Di2 or SRAM rival etap and less fancy wheels would be in the $6500-7000 range for a top end race machine. My first tri bike was a Specialized Transition and at the time (2009) the S-works transition was around $9000 and that was no where near what this bike is. I have no doubt people will rage about how expensive new bikes ‘have gotten’ but its easy to forget how far bike tech has come and actually how expensive the top end bikes were 10+ years ago.
No the bike Shimano, HED carbon wheels is going to be around $12,500 full retail. It’s has the Vision TFA Pro extension as well and Ceramic Speed upgrade as I was able to price it with the new order system which isn’t available yet.
Honestly if the bike looks anything like the picture in here, I’ll be ordering one!

QR has lost it. Does anyone consider this bike on par with the Canyon CFR or Cervelo PX/P5d? The QR is $500 more than those bikes. Unless they follow the always-on-sale 20-30% Rudy sales model, you’d have to be crazy to get this bike.
Not only are those bikes far more complex, the CFR even comes with wheels that retail at thousands more.
The QR just looks like a PR6 with lowered seatatay, blended draft box, stock vision bars, and fork/seatpost from a road bike. When I see their bikes in general I consider them on the level of Premier. Im sure they are quick enough but look simple/inexpensive. Premier prices accordingly, but QR doesn’t seem to.

You should wait to see the data they put out. And I think you mean the Canyon SLX Speedmax.

This is the one I built out. This is Vision Pro extensions, Profile Design Aeria front bottle, Ultegra Di2, HED Vanquish RC 6/8 wheels, Ceramic Speed upgrade, Stella Italia Watt Gel Superflow saddle.
Price for that build?
Price for that build?
Full retail was $12,644. And QR has a lot of partnerships and sale’s. QR wants to be a triathlon brand.
Wow. More than the top spec PX, P5, Speedmax CFR, E-119, etc. with a lower spec than any of them. Can we expect a $15k price for DA and Zipp or Enve wheels?

No, I mean the CFR with 858 NSW wheels and Red AXS groupset, which is $12,000. The SLX is $8000.
Regarding data, I’m expecting something like Premier. Fast. The difference is that I look at QR the way I look at the Premier. Nothing about it says “premium.” But one of these is priced accordingly while the other is priced *above *some some of the most progressive/premium designs.
I admit it is a perception thing. Maybe it’s the cheap looking paint, simplistic design, and off-the shelf components. Can’t exactly put my finger on it. But there’s a reason Timex can’t charge Rolex money even if it’s more accurate at telling time.
Edit: If this bike handily dethrones PX/P5d by more than margin of error, then I can see this price point justified. If it’s slower and looks cheaper, it should be cheaper.

That depends on your priorities.
Last generation QR was/is fast, last generation Canyon was not.
New generation Canyon is fast but at the expense of adjustability
New generation QR is faster than their last (but I haven’t seen the data yet) and retains their principle of using 4&5mm hex to adjust everything.
And they have spent a lot of time in the tunnel for this one.
So, while everyone else is making more complicated bikes to stand out, QR are sticking with fast and simple.
Won’t appeal to everyone of course, but a far more practical bike for most riders than a lot of what is on the market.
