I have no clue, I thought maybe Griffen, but the seat-stays are different. Any Ideas…is ita Lemond one-off?
Wow, that thing is kinda cool. For some reason I am tempted to suggest it may be titanium… Just a guess.
Look closely at the rear brake area, that little lug that joins the seatstays to the monostay. That should give you a hint. Another hint, that little lug was on a certain company’s production frames a few years ago, but no longer. Finally, the same company made custom TT frames for their sponsored Tour de France team in 1999, then designed a new TT frame for 2000. Their #1 rider never rode the 1999 custom frame.
Almost looks like a GT. The last “LeMond” TT frame I saw was a rebadged Cervelo P3.
You’re right jasonk. What lug is that? I’ve seen it but I can;t think of the name…
The chainstays (curve in the rear portion near the dropout), wishbone seatstay assembly and top of the extended seatube parallel to the ground are all indicative of a brand I;ve seen but can’t remember… Was it Moots?
Trek
.
It also has one of those funny looking, proably non-aero nose cones on the head tube? Like Tom I recognize the seat-stay seat tube junction but I can’t place it.
Nope.
That there is a custom Lemond (made by Trek). That lug was used on the now discontinued Aluminaero frames, and is very similar to the lug on the 2300 series frames of a few years back.
The USPS TT frames from 1999 had the same lug as the Lemond Aluminaero. Armstrong never used that frame, preferring the rebadged Litespeed. I think Hincapie still uses a similar frame to Horner’s.
Oh, you’re good.
Not really, without your seatstay hint I wouldn’t have guessed it. Those 2300 frames were always a favorite but those seatstays were a real spoiler for the whole thing!
So what do I get for guessing it right? Please say it’s a TSR thong!
Thanks for the history lesson. BTW…Horner had this to say on Velonews regarding the bike
"For Horner, who has grown accustomed to winning races on American soil over the past few years, his result brought mixed emotions, including frustrations over his new time trial bike, which he only received on Monday. While his defeat of Julich - and proximity to Voigt and Armstrong - reconfirmed to the international cycling community that he truly belongs among the elite in Europe, Horner admits his 51-second deficit to Armstrong heading into the mountains is likely insurmountable.
“I think it’s a respectable ride,” said Horner, who nearly collapsed with exhaustion at the end of his ride. “I think, given a bike I was a little more familiar with, I could have gone 20-30 seconds faster, because the position is still not yet dialed. It’s still not yet there. I’m going against the best in the world and I’m getting a bike that I’ve never ridden before. I’d appreciate next time the sponsor sending that bike a little bit sooner. I know they’ve got their own problems for getting that, too, but I’ve got to win some races, but when you’re going up against the best I’d like to be a little familiar with the bike.”
A TSR thong??? Eeeeeeek. If you get it please don’t post a picture of you on your bike for a forum evaluation of your position…please
It’s green, so I will name it Patrick. Unless it’s a girl, then it will be Shannon. But it’s not curvy enough to be a girl. So, Patrick it is.
no TSR thongs for you (eeewww)
Now you get to answer the next question. From the cyclingnews.com photos, who was riding a frame made by a different manufacturer than their sponsor? This ones easy.
Looks more like a Seamus to myself.
Definitely the Trek, I actually cut out of work around 3:30 and made it over to the start line check out all the bikes and get a glimpse of the riders. What type of Disc do you think Horner is riding??? What type of Crank do you think Julich was riding? As someone mentioned earlier there were a couple of rebadged Cervelo P3’s as Lemonds. Also got to see the Cervelo R1 which was a pretty neat looking bike.
Ivan Dominguez…now what’s my prize?
Thats pretty bad since Colavita is sponsored by Felt. Felt makes some pretty decent TT frames. I guess since Ivan is not much of a TT guy he didnt get one?
OT, but it looks like he’s sportin’ the new Arione Tri saddle that Herbert posted pics of a few days ago.
