Great race! I’m not sure if we met out there, but that is definitely a tough course and tough day to start your multi-sport career. Also, I like the reference to the “Schweet Mercury Bike”

Really outstanding job! I am willing to bet that you’ll be on the podium someday soon.

Yeah, Dave…we met!

I was wearing a white tanktop on top of a black underarmour?

We were talking about your bike…and your flat…you don’t remember me?? :frowning:

Just messing. I’m sure you’ve got PLENTY of fans. There’s no way for you to remember EVERYONE!

Haha, everyone should have name-tags at races! Totally remember you, and congrats again!

Front tubular flats are awesome because you can just race on the rim

That didn’t look too comfortable!

How/when did you come to get sponsored? You had one of the 3 hottest bikes I saw today (1st place chick’s P4 with the pink adamo, the 1st place 25? yr-old’s Look 576 and yours). That was one mean, aggresive looking bike. What components are you riding on it?

Erika Ruge won? Sweeeeet. Represent. She got her’s at Catstkill Mtn Multisport, just like me.

Dave. Just read your blog. Congrats on that win today. And btw, we Germans didn’t make it to Pearl Harbor. Just saying…

Thanks on the bike, I don’t think I would have won the overall without it! With sponsorship, I think I combined okay-ish results with a unique blog. In 2008 and 2009 I was top-ranked in 20-24 for duathlon (so good enough results) and started a blog last August that focuses more on humor/life than training. You seem to be on the right track, but, as you will hear a lot on ST, even the pros have difficulty with that stuff.

The components are all SRAM Force with an FSA carbon crank. And the bars are Uberhund, which are absolutely awesome.

I believe that was her name…if I’m not mistaken.

Blonde hair? Pig tails (perhaps)? Skinny?

I was behind her for the first 15 minutes of R1, then passed her and stayed about 2 positions in front of her.
In R2, she started out far behind me, I believe, but when I turned around at the 16 minute mark, I was able to just make her and her white shirt out in the distance. As we progressed, she definitely gained on me, fast bugger. 1st place women’s, 11th overall. Sound like Erika?

Haha, thanks so much! I usually post the race reports the day after on ST (more pageviews that way

And I blame the Germans for everything. Animal House quotes are just a convenient excuse.

Seriously? The BARS are absolutely awesome? That entire bike is just one carbony lady killer, and you’re commenting on the bars? Eh…to each their own.

What are you doing in Duke?

One degree of separation to KML, huh? She should get tested

I like my bars like I like my women; narrow, ergometric, black, and inanimate. Wait…forget I said that last one

Duke next year for a law degree, with the plan of pursuing an environmental science master’s dual degree.

Where are you now? Or until commencement?

Where are you now? Or until commencement?

I’m up on the Upper West Side at Columbia for another week and a half! Feel free to PM if you want to ride at some point.

I do! I’m on 182nd but I gotta work on my swim. My first tri’s this weekend in Jersey and I gotta spend a lot of time in the pool. on the other hand…it IS finals, so I have a lot of time…maybe, it just may work

Congrats on the race and taking 1st in your AG. I’m not sure, but I think we may have briefly met after the race (I was the guy on the 576). Despite the wind and slightly colder temps, it turned out to be a great day for a race. It was great to meet some amazing people out there at the race.

Yes we did meet…I believe. You had your LOOK parked next to the 1st place overall girl’s P4 once she made her way to the winner’s circle behind the tables and trophies (by the food), correct? I remember calling out your name as you walked up to the podium! What position did you take?

The race was very enjoyable…amen.

Yes we did meet over there. I was thinking that was you, but wasn’t certain. Ended up at 3rd, well behind the 1st and 2nd place finishers (my bike is a bit “lacking” currently), but had fun out there and happy with my time. The P4 and the “Schweet Mercury Bike” were definitely two of the hottest bikes out there.

Lacking? What was your bike lacking? Certainly not aggressively handsome looks…and hey no complaining. I’ve got an 8 speed no name chain on a 9sp shimano setup. I’m not pinning my 10th place to that. You came in third b/c you didn’t push hard enough to beat Dave

And Dave’s going to NC next year, so we won’t have a chance to shave 15 or 25 minutes off our times to beat him. Dang it!
