Mission Bay Triathlon....Roll Call

The birthplace of Triathlon! Whose in? My goal is to break into the top 10 age group this year.

Mark

I’ll be there. Suckered my brother to come out from Phx too, so my parents came with…going to be a big “photo” and “cheer” squad for the Creagers!

Sunday also marks my 1 year anniversery in Triathlons. A year ago October, I did my first. It just so happened to be Mission Bay Triathlon. My goal is to destroy my time from my first year!!!

I’ll have my Slowtwitch shirt on, just like every other event!

I’ll be there. I’m hoping my stubborness and base can make up for my recent neglect of training, especially on the bike.

Are you guys checking your bike on Saturday?

Scott

My daughter and I will be there. As I get older and she gets faster it gets way harder to stay ahead of her. We love this race. It was the first tri I ever did. We go back every year as our last race of the season.

I will be there.

Debating the idea of not wearing a wesuite. But I have a feeling the water will be colder this year.

What are ST’s thoughts?

I’m in…sick with a head cold right now. It’s my first tri so we will see how it goes. Hopefully I will feel better between now and sunday morning.

my wife just reminded me that i was sick right before the rock and roll marathon in june. i am seeing a pattern developing

good luck to everyone

I wish I wish. 1st half is the 9th so I’m focused on that. I will be there for the Spring Sprint though. Good luck to all
and don’t overdo it on that dangerous 1/4 mile swim

if we check our bike and something happens whose responsibility is it? or is there going to be some fine print on the waiver we have to sign tomorrow where they relinquish responsibility?

in the shrek voice “well thats some fine print” =]

if so, i will be bringing my bike down with me on sunday morning.

I’m in… good luck everyone! I’ll be the old fat slow guy with the beer belly in the too-tight TCSD uni.

I have checked my bike here for the last two or three years. Best way to ensure a decent bike location. This race has gotten so big the rack space is hard to come by race morning. The RD has security provided overnight. Never heard of anyone having any issues with leaving the bike overnight…just like at San Diego Intl., same RD. I don’t know the legal side of it…probably no legal recourse if something does happen…it is optional.

Bring a lock to add a bit of your own security…Dont forget the key in the AM…

Mike,

I did a open ocean swim yesterday in Solana Beach just up the coast and the water was definitely wetsuit cold. Mission Bay is usually a bit warmer but…I intend to jump in tomorrow and find out for myself after I drop off my bike. It does seem tempting to forego the wetsuit for such a short swim. I get pretty stiff and tight in cold water without a wetsuit though. I will post tomorrow after I jump in and let you know.

Mark

I didn’t weat a wetsuit last week for the club Aquathon at LaJolla Shores and it really wasn’t bad and that was for a 1km swim.

I wish I wish. 1st half is the 9th so I’m focused on that.

What half is on the 9th? (Oct. 9, I presume?)

There is one in Napa on Oct 9th.

It was announced mid season and so far there are only about 100 individuals. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad, we shall see.

How did everyone do? i had a horrible swim, a good bike and an OK run. i will write more later. i think i came around 1:30 or so. not sure where that put me for my AG.

Ben

I sucked, but had fun! I did see one ST dude wearing an ST shirt after the race, but was to lazy to go walk over.

Calm down, ‘the birthplace of triathlon’, NOT… there were swim, bike and run events held in Europe long before Mission Bay TC was formed.

You don’t know what the hell you are talking about

http://www.usatriathlon.org/viewRelease.asp?File=01-11-1999_3.txt
.

Do your own research, but look deep!

A hint, in 1962 there was an event in France that saw cyclist leave there bicycles and then run and swim to the finish in a small fishing post near San Sebastian.

This was an concept stolen from Italy where similar events were held anually…

I do actually know what the hell I am talking about, I was a member of the MBTC a f’n long time ago, pre 1990’s.
