What a bunch of idiots. These guys are clowns. I would love to be in their inner circle and see what they actually are talking about behind closed doors. If I was one of their teammates I would love giving either one of them a hard time in the locker room or in interviews with the media. I would never let butler touch the ball when he was on the court with me.
Well I know of 1 of the 2 people your talking about. What is your issue with Bell. Doesn’t he have the right to choose his work environment? If you want to go work for a competitor can’t you? He has chosen not to play instead of choosing to be forced to work for his current employer who would not trade him, nor agree to his price so they slapped a franchise tag on him, and see well its not worth that amount of money to play, so I wont.

What a freaking Puss.
Why would you say they are clowns? They appear to be smart businessmen.
I’m irritated that Bell is possibly hurting my team’s chances at a SB run while the window appears to be closing for them, but I can’t be mad at him for what he’s trying to do for himself and his cohorts, given their relatively low compensation even among the top tier backs. That said, your value is determined by what people are willing to pay for your skill set, so it’s really a subjective assessment, and I don’t expect him to personally or positionally advance the cause very much.
I’m irritated that Bell is possibly hurting my team’s chances at a SB run while the window appears to be closing for them, …
Apparently the team ownership doesn’t agree with you, or a SB is not worth whatever additional money he wants. I don’t think I would blame the player when they stand by their beliefs and don’t play. I have much less respect for those that take the paycheck and then complain about their situation.
The Rooneys rarely, if ever, set the bar for salaries of star players. They’re very good at replacing talent with a more affordable alternative, and we’re seeing that with Conner. Who knows if he’ll continue to play at this level, but yeah, there’s little immediate concern about Bell’s absence with the way Conner’s playing. He’s not as dynamic or explosive as Bell, but he’s not a roster hole, either.
This really isn’t the best team for Bell to be making his stand on, given their history of strong replacements at virtually every position. Conner is making him appear less valuable by the week.

Really whats your issue with Bell?
Almost 15 million for this year. If he acts this way now, why would anyone want him on their team? He likely won’t make more next year. Funny thing is he wants more money, but has earned zero this year. What is better, 15 million + teammates respect or 0 and hurting team and next contract?

He still is going to get partially paid for this year. And then he could get a Todd Gurley like contract next year with much of that money guaranteed.

No he hasn’t played, pretty sure he doesn’t get paid. I’ll take him on the Lions, we’ll pay him.
I guess he thinks Zero and no risk of injury is better than $15million and risk of injury playing for owners who don’t think he is worth it to give him a long term contract.
Guess I don’t see the problem, middle of season he busts a knee or something, goodbye big contract, goodbye guaranteed money. Really why should he play this year on a year deal, he has proved his worth now pay him and guarantee it.

There is even more to it than injury risk vs $15m
I don’t have the numbers but basically the analytics show career accumulated touches of an RB play a significant roll in future value. He is going to get a larger guaranteed contract if he sits out this year.
I don’t blame a single nfl player for making these considerations. Highest revenue league, highest risk of injury, yet no guaranteed contracts.
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell has placed himself in a dangerous predicament by failing to show up to Pittsburgh by this point.
The Steelers now can place the transition tag on Bell after this season, which would allow Pittsburgh to match any offer sheet the running back receives. But it also would be worth somewhere between $9 million and $10 million – at least $4.5 million less than the $14.5 million franchise tag this year that he still has not signed, according to league sources.
Bell must report by the Tuesday of Week 11, or Nov. 13, in order to play this season. If he does, Pittsburgh is not likely to use its franchise tag on Bell again this offseason, since a third consecutive franchise tag would be too cost prohibitive.
But the transition tag is an option that is available to the Steelers that could hinder Bell’s ability to shop his talents unencumbered on the open market.
Bell, who forfeits $855,000 for each week he fails to sign the franchise tag, told ESPN on Oct. 1 that he would play football this year and did not expect to be traded.
Can’t imagine why they wouldn’t use the transition tag, at this point.
Regardless of what Bell signs for, the money this year he will never recoup.
If his replacement keeps doing so well, it give some leverage to teams other teams to say that while he is a great back, but he benefited from a great systems that replaced him so easy. While it not 100% true, it’s something other GM’s will use to give him a lower offer.

Yup. As I was saying…
Instead of a triumph for himself and future franchise-tag objectors, Bell has trapped himself in the most disastrous holdout in NFL history.
He has cost himself $855,529 per week during his 10-week holdout. That’s $8.6 million in sunk earnings and counting. It’s hard to imagine a scenario in which some future contract makes up for the money he has passed up this season.
Sure, Bell might have risked his future earning potential with an injury. That argument made sense in training camp, and maybe the first game check or two was worth the risk-reward ratio. But giving up $8.6 million today to avoid the risk of losing future earnings is like cutting off your foot to prevent an ingrown toenail. Or as economic experts like to say: A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
But wait: It gets worse for Bell. Not only has Conner stepped in for the Steelers and provided nearly identical production to Bell for less than 10 percent of the cost…
The Broncos stuck an old Terrell Davis jersey on undrafted rookie Phillip Lindsay, and Lindsay instantly became the AFC’s third-leading rusher. (Conner leads the conference.)The Patriots solved an injury crunch at running back by sliding wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson into the I-formation with little drop-off in production. The Falcons replaced the injured Devonta Freeman—one of the NFL’s highest-paid running backs—with a platoon of Tevin Coleman and rookie Ito Smith, who have combined for 880 scrimmage yards and 10 touchdowns. The 49ers replaced injured free agent Jerick McKinnon (who signed a four-year, $30-million deal in the offseason) with undrafted sophomore Matt Breida, who ranks fourth in the NFC in rushing and averages 5.5 yards per carry.
It’s as if the entire NFL rose up to prove the point that running back talent is plentiful and overpaying for even a great one is ill-advised. There will be bidders for Bell’s services in 2019, but few will back up the money truck after seeing how easily Bell (and Freeman, and McKinnon) was replaced.
I don’t mind Bell as much as Butler. Bell is betting on himself at this point and is expecting to make up the difference he is losing with a huge contract next season. If he get’s injured during any point this year, the chances of that huge contract go out the window. I can’t blame him, NFL players (other than franchise QBs) are disposable. As far as the Steelers go, they are doing fine with Connor.
Butler on the other hand, is getting on my nerves. Waving a towel with GS fans? That’s classless. I wouldn’t want him on my team, if he gets unhappy he may go back to acting like a disgruntled pre-teen. He is hurting his stock as far as I’m concerned, much the same way that Machado hurt his stock during the playoffs with the dodgers.
