Just wanted to hear a bit more about passing Michael Weiss in the last 2k. He said he stopped at an aid station then dug in at 3:30s to close it out but didn’t mention the pass or if there was a bit of battle or anything. Amazing Jamie was able to pick up the last Nice slot.
In the last 4km, Riddle averaged 4:01mpk. Weiss averaged 4:33mpk which meant the 1:35 gap was overturned and Riddle crossed the line 40 seconds ahead (for the NQ). No 3:30s were injured in the construction of this turnaround.
Riddle’s average mpk overall was 3:56 so 4:01 for the last 4km is essentially maintaining speed. Have to assume Riddle didn’t accelerate: Weiss ‘just’ ran slower (mini-bonk/ no idea).
Worth looking back to T2: Riddle was 40 seconds ahead dismounting, lost 72 seconds on Weiss fiddling around in T2 and then they ran about the same speed for 24 miles.
Thanks for the analysis! Might have been an easier day if they exited T2 together then
Wow, didn’t see that. I saw the botched T1 he had too, that set him back a minute or so. Guessing he wouldn’t have been able to hang with the front bike group anyway, but still, it seems his transitions will be an easy place to optimize for next time.
Weiss caught Riddle half way through the bike but then had a flat (100km) which cost him 2+ minutes. Weiss made most of that back up by T2.
He needed a poo poo break in t2 from what I saw
On the recap video
I do not begrudge a ST er with strong opinions
But when you got to go
You got to go
He’s honestly a pretty damn good candidate in that he already has the swim sorted.
surprised no one said he is a dead ringer for eddie redmaynne. anyone seen the jackal recently? if eddie does a mark allen bio pic jamie could be his stunt double
My mancrush is developing further, which is creepy AFF as I’m almost 2 decades Jamie’s senior

Anybody knows why his heart rate is so low on the bike while muscles burn? Jamie Riddle askin’ the viewers
I paused the video because of a phone call and then started wondering if Jamie was going to sleep over his own stuff
Jamie would prefer to race the full suit of T100 races rather than target the IM Pro series, even though he will have done 3 Ironmans and 70.3 Worlds anyway. Says he doesn’t have a shot at the top 3, and the money for, say, #10 in the T100 series has one more zero than for the same place in the IM Pro series.
Lots of other interesting snippets, like he’s not ruling out Supertri this season.
Oh, the confidence of youth…I really like Jamie and his potential is obvious but seriously ,he had better start winning some big races very soon if he continues to talk himself up like that.
