We are at the Ironman World Championships in Nice, France with the official bike count. With the new website we get to do all sorts of cool stuff, like this: a LIVE BIKE COUNT. The following results for bikes are going to change live as we add bikes to the count.
For now I only see a picture of a Cervelo but no count. I assume this will happen as the athletes roll through (it is only 3 pm right now in France, so perhaps the count will refresh soon)
Thanks for the bike count. Any “tech” videos & reports are always my favourite.
Can you give us a heads-up whether there’s also a road vs tri bike count or anything similar?
As somebody who appreciated the toughness of this bike course, I’m expecting that many racers will be surprised negatively on how long it will take them to finish the bike course. This is for anybody riding roughly 2W/kg and on a standard road bike - one could roll 30km/h on a flat course with semi-drafting, but in Nice it’ll be closer to 24km/h, finishing the bike with a completely empty tank.
No. Keep in mind we have a lot “Dead Bikes” that we will be talking about. these are the brands that really arent even in business anymore so we stopped counting them in catagories and have lumped them into “Dead Bikes” Total bikes counted where 1090 and put into catagories
@marcag look at this list from 2010 - there is a lot of brands here, that would be “dead” today, while they may actually still exist and people may still be riding them
On Android, I see the pie chart, although it is mis- formatted and pushed to the right of the text. And, no ID of pie slice colors with bike brand, i.e. no legend. For me.
My guess it that Cube is just really hard to get outside of Europe. It’s not sold here in the United States and I don’t think there are many dealers outside of Europe either. It’s a shame because they actually provide an even better than Canyons in terms of price to performance in my opinion.
