Well we’re sat in the car sheltering from the rain down in Taupo, but things are hotting up out on the road. Half way through the bike Cameron is leading the front men’s pack with T in close attendance. Cameron looks very comfortable, even had time to smile at the crowd as he came through Taupo. Gina is doing all the work in the gals race, with Jo sitting back at 10 meters.
Internet coverage is crappy today. Connection is good, but the weather must be causing some issues. The footage is grainy and tons of static with the audio.
Men are halfway done with the run, and the amazing Cam Brown is looming large. He’s less than 2 minutes from the lead, and has padded his lead on Terenzo by 2 minutes in the last several miles - another great finish to come in Taupo! The women’s side looks like it will equally be a stellar finish - while LIsbeth K leads, Gina Ferguson and the 6X IMNZ Champ, Jo Lawn, are just 2 minutes back - wow! Prett good updates being spit out by ironmanlive.
He owns this race. I remember seeing him there when I raced… many years ago (2004?) Awesome. I love Taupo and I love that race. Thanks for the updates.
I’ve been just reading the updates; but, yes, am getting the video, although it’s quite limited it seems - I’m just seeing one camera, hearing music, and a few announcer c omments here & there.
Looks like Cam’s day again - 3 women within 40 seconds at 18K of the run - wow!
Steve, can you give us a rundown of conditions for the swim, bike & run? Looks like a good year weather-wise for fast times…I’m picking a few friends (some of whom post here) will crush their PBs today.
