Ironman Frankfurt 2025 - run up and race day

Schomburg loses his cockpit.

It’s forecast to be 33° here in Frankfurt city, and down by the river it’ll be a couple of degrees hotter as it’s a basin with little wind

I’ve just walked the dog - it’s already warm, especially in the sun.

It’ll be a hot day, especially for the age groupers.

is it wetsuit or non wetsuit for AG’ers?

Bikes have defo become safer with the new rules lol

Let’s see which contraption fails next

Eh, a lot of these athletes despite using the equipment every day make for pretty shit mechanics. How many throw the bike together as quick as possible, call it done, and get away with it at most races?

Normally non wetsuit, but alwayd on the limit.

So how much time does Høgenhaug need in t2 over lange/kristian?

Also ditlev needs about equal time and has none so far

Shomburg, being Shomburg I see!

Edit, I was about 45 mins behind on my feed when he was 1 min ahead on bike, true to form he’s disappeared now.

Cockpit cracked/went loose

And Schomburg’s repair didn’t sort it and he was forced to call it (left with base bars and a 10cm pier - commentators speculated judged a safety issue and the (moto) TO appeared explicit.
But Hoegenhaug has sent it and maintained/stretched out a lead. He ran 2:45 last year.

Seriously!

not sure why Lange raced so soon after injury

KB, Rudy and Magnus positioned well

here at Eurobike and plan to watch the finish

Point taken! Thanks for the update!

Kieran Lindars had a mechanic or his chip ain’t working?

Looks like Rudy made a move on the bike

Yes. Someone had to do something!

KB sitting back waiting for the run??

If KB can do 2:32 (or even sub2:30??) again - he is fine. Høghen is a 2:45 Marathon type.
Ditlev moving a bit now. But gonna be an interesting run!

Danish Dynamite upfront now

Høghen 3:52 bike split - shiaaaaat

Ditlev the big loser here. Too many that will run faster than him

Should I tune back out lol? I tune in (early early wake up east coast US) and the leader drops his chain and gets a “outside assistance” penalty in the last 10 mins.

1st time I’ve seen an penalty just get served randomly on the course vs some desiganted penalty area. That was kinda random, didn’t even know they can execute penalties that way. Learn something new everyday.

Høgen 1 min penalty for “outside assistance” :open_mouth:
Did he get some salt from his coach maybe?

Magnus, with super fresh legs, may get close to 2:30 marathon ??
