That picture of Cowman and Tinley sums up what a character Ken was. RIP legend!

man, this really brings me back. The 80’s. Getting old is a bummer sometimes.

Well, since we are doing a brief detour down memory lane, my Mom winning her AG in 1987.

Day before.
Blummenfelt, Schuster, Ditlev, Lange

Blu
Magnus
RVB

Forget the thread, but I said that Ditlev would shoe horn in another half somewhere to make up some potential points from his dismal race in St George, and seems that is the plan as long as this race plays out for him without black swans…

Really going to be interesting with so many top time guys who specialize in different disciplines. No one of course wants to start the run with Patrick, except maybe Blu, so the bike hammers will certainly be looking for a several minute cushion. And that can all depend on how they swim, have to make up time there and you lose half the bike just getting to the front, so I expect the top swimmers to put the pace on from the beginning…

It’s gonna be a long day as usual, but it will be a painful one to just stay in the hunt for the first 6 or 7 hours too. Think I have to go with Blu here, he has told his brain it is just a qualifier, taking any pressure off himself, just like he did when he raced last year after the olympics thinking he was severely undertrained for a full. His brain is like a jockey holding back a racehorse early, only to pounce towards the finish line when they smell the barn…

In the video Ditlev looks good. Calm relaxed and idk he just looks better than I’ve seen him (minus that stupid kid beard thing)

Is Barnaby injured?

DNS at Frankfurt and haven’t heard or seen him since Singapore?

Updated forecast says 28-29 C degrees tops, let’s see! 19C deg now

Gonna be FAST today. Recall last year the bike course was wet with rain all the way through, but also shortened and only 175 km

And we’re off!

Who’s leading the swim? Schomburg?

Edit: yup, it was Schomburg.

Here we go!

  1. Blu
    1. Ditlev
  2. Høhenhaug
  3. Lange

Tought i would throw in høgenhaug, super strong biker so can bike with blummenfelt to t2, was in the shape of his life for challenge championship.

RvB, Iden, Kblu & Ditlev are close together. Pain Train coming up …

Wurf lost 8 mins on the swim :open_mouth:

Hoegenhaug lost 50+ seconds in T1: almost dropped back to front of the second group.

Anybody knows if the new German BTA & BTS rules are being imposed on the Pros in this race ?

Several of the BTA set ups look marginal (>250mm back from elbow reference point) but whatever. And they aren’t DTU rules, the revised interpretation doc is World Tri, and Jimmy said that’s what they’d use/adopt.
Schomburg has absolutely hammered off the front: zero chance of that pace for 100 more miles.
