So peer pressure got to me and I bought a Shuffle yesterday. Very impressed with design and engineering behind the thing but what about those ear buds? I ran today at lunch time and they seemed to move around and even fell out once (right in the middle of AC/DC even!). Do most people replace them with after market ear phones? What are some good ones that won’t fall out?
Depends on your ears, but it seems like a lot of people replace them. Try the little earphone covers that come with it. They worked for me for a while, but now they don’t and I need to get other headphones.
I recall a discussion about headphones on here a couple of months back…I think if you do a search you might be able to pull down some more definitive and specific answers.
The ONLY headphones I can keep in my ear (especially while running) are made by H20 and were made for swimming. I know you can buy some outrageiously expensive custom ones where they actually take a mold of your ear holes. I’ve wondered about the Bose earbuds. They are expensive enough that they ought to stay put.
I have some that came with my old Rio mp3 player, basic in-the-ear headphones, but more ergonomic. I only use my two iPod sets (30g video and a brand new shuffle) for messing around on my computer.
a dab of superglue works well
.
I have two pair that I use. When I run I use a “wrap around behind the head” pair because they dont fall off. My favorites, though, are a pair of Sony’s that wrap around the ear that I use when I lift weights or ride on the trainer.
Totally depends on your ear shape…ear buds in general would be more likely to fall out than any style that wraps around part of the head.
I bought the shure in the ear model that were sold on the Apple site. They stay put for me.
the white ones didn’t work for me either. I bought a pair of Phillips ‘sport’ headphones that loop over my ear. I got them at Target for $20. Try searching Amazon or Froogle for ‘sport headphones’.
I bought these to use with my nano and they are great for running/riding/etc. And cheap too.
google search on “JVC gummy earbuds” - you should be able to find them on Amazon or something for $3, and they are great.
iPod question but a different subject. I was looking for a song on iTunes and they didn’t have it. I did a search for it and found it on Napster .I’ve never used Nappster in any fashion what so ever. Is it easy to download there and then get it onto your iPod??

But what prevents you from eating them?

They ought to for how much you paid. What did you pay for those babies? and don’t lie!
I really can’t remember as it was a couple of years ago now, but they are still great to use and the sound is excellent. Have a look at the Apple store and you will see how much they are now.
easiest thing to do would be to burn it to cd and then re-rip it…there are other software programs that could convert it for you as well…
You have to buy a subscription to Napster and the second you stop paying the monthly fee, which is minimal, all your downloads go away. That used to be their business model anyway. They may have changed it. Try Morpheus or Kazza.
I think you can down load it put it on a cd then rip it to I tunes.
I will ask my kids
they will know
dirt
I asked the kids
I was wrong
if you can burn it you can rip it
if you can rip it you can put it in a Ipod
napster is a monthly thing
so it might not work

I thought MP3 players were supposed to replace CD technology. So why are we “ripping” to a CD and then unripping to an MP3?
What I love is my teenage son finds the smallest MP3 player know to man. Then he “has” to get this big IHome unit to plug it in to. We miniaturize this music player and than hook it something bigger to make it functional. Sorry, I must be getting old.

I have a 30g Video and a new shuffle. I use the video at night in my iHome, to listen to music, have an alarm and a clock (also has a radio in it). Nothing wrong with that. I use the video for travel mostly and the new shuffle to run with (fits in the key pocket of my running shorts.)
