I am putting together a CD of all the hits that get the juices flowing come race morning, I have a few tracks that are a must and wanted to know what else you guys and gals find inspiring as well.
Heres what I got :
Rocky Theme
Last of the Mohican’s (The Kiss)
Braveheart ( battle of sterling)
Glory (charging Fort Wagner)
Carl Orff ( oh Fortuna )
There are some others but my memory is currently failing,
This is a long shot but I have never been able to find the song that was played in the 2005 Ironman World Championship, it was an instrumental track that was played when they showed Faris pulling his lead on the bike, if anyone knows that track or where I can locate the songs from the 05 Championship please advise.
Bittersweet Symphony by the Verve is a good choice…
Instant Karma by John Lennon
Right Here, Right Now by Fatboy Slim could easily get you too pumped up. Handle with care.
Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes
Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand
Float On by Modest Mouse
Fight Test by The Flaming Lips
Eye of the Tiger by Survivor
Politik by Coldplay
This list can be as long as you want to make it. You seem to have a thing for movie scores, so I don’t know if my list is helpful. Maybe Duel of the Fates from the Star Wars I /Phantom Menace soundtrack.
There is an instrumental/symphony-type song (not sure of the correct term) called “Ecstacy of Gold” that gets me juiced. Metallica plays this song every time as they are entering the arena and heading onstage. I get goosebumps thinking of it. The composer that wrote it died this spring I believe.
I do love movie scores, but am looking for anything really, I have a huge music collection but most of it is old now and it doesn’t get the pump going like they use to, these songs are great , keep em coming.

Not from the '05 IM, but the really great and motivational music played during '04 was by Explosions In The Sky’s album entitlted “the earth is not a cold, dead place”…check that album out for sure. it’s instrumental post-rock for those interested.
U2 - Where the Streets Have No Name
Moby - Natural Blues
Rush - Time Stand Still
Moby - Everloving (this was in the movie Seabiscuit, in the scene where he wins his first race. I get the chills thinking about it.)

Ecstasy of Gold! Wow, great lick - not many know of it!
Also, whoever recommended Explosions in the Sky - awesome instrumental Rock band that all should listen to.
Depnds on what i am getting ready for- but if want I to get pretty fired up I go for these two- both very up beat and some of the words hit home right before a big race.
Death or glory by The Clash- Not directly related more to music success I’d guess- but you can easily take it as take the chance in front of you or dry trying-
Superman By REM- I am I am I am Superman and I can do anything- who doesn’t want to hear that right before race?
