So the last CD I made for my wife worked out pretty good. I had some good songs, some of which were recommended by you folks. So I’m making another one. All of the talk aound here got me feeling a little nostalgic for the 80’s-when my wife and I were growing up. We met in 1990.
So here is my list so far-in no particular order:
Angel Eyes-Jeff Healy Band Thank You-Led Zeppelin Heaven-Bryan Adams Amanda-Boston You’re My Home-Billy Joel This Night-Billy Joel All My Life-Billy Joel Could It Be Magic-Barry Manilow Remember When-Alan Jackson I’ll Go On Loving You-Alan Jackson I Cross My Heart-George Strait (on the fence)I Can’t Fight This Feeling-REO Speedwagon
I am thinking I need about 5 or 6 more songs to round this out.
This is a possibility. I’ll have to listen to it with my back turned, because I may have been unduly influenced by their smoothly choreographed dance moves!
What are you trying to convey with this CD? You have somewhat of an eclectic list, but not sure what the theme is? Are these some of her favorite artists from the 80’s?
3 Billy Joel songs, but no Piano Man?
How about Bruce Springstein’s Glory Days? That’s got a nice nostalgic vibe to it?
Another good nostalgic one is John Cougar’s Jack & Diane
If you give me a little more direction I may have some more suggestions for you.
I’m trying to get some schmaltzy sort of love song stuff from the 80’s and 90’s. You know, the stuff you get kind of wistful about. Billy Joel has always been one of my favorites, and Piano Man is WAY up there (I’ve been playing it since the 8th grade). Maybe not Jack and Diane though. Glory Days is great, but doesn’t quite fit the mold.
I would say that these are definitely artists that my wife likes.
**There’s never a teenage girl around when you need one. **
I could probably ask my sister (she’s not a teenager, but she was one in the 80’s). I remember when she broke up with her first boyfriend she spent the whole weekend locked in her bedroom playing a continuous loop of Tiffany’s “Could’ve Been.” That was fun.
I Need Love-wow that takes it back! You and my wife are the same age (at least I’m pretty sure) so you might be in tune with one another. I thought about Annie’s Song by John Denver, and it is a strong possibility.
Faithfully is there as well, but I got really sick of that song as it was my band’s ballad cover song for the Jr. High Sock Hop. We could only “slow it down” one time so we played that one a million times. It is a good one though and will get serious consideration.
Two for Tesla. I’ll have to look that one up as I am not as familiar with it.
I was also thinking of a Billy Squier song but I can’t put my finger on it.
Here are the lyrics to Kiss by Prince add his funky music to it and it is an invite to a good time.
U don’t have 2 be beautiful
2 turn me on
I just need your body baby
From dusk till dawn
U don’t need experience
2 turn me out
U just leave it all up 2 me
I’m gonna show u what it’s all about
U don’t have 2 be rich
2 be my girl
U don’t have 2 be cool
2 rule my world
Ain’t no particular sign I’m more compatible with
I just want your extra time and your
Kiss
U got to not talk dirty, baby
If u wanna impress me
U can’t be 2 flirty, mama
I know how 2 undress me (Yeah)
I want 2 be your fantasy
Maybe u could be mine
U just leave it all up to me
We could have a good time
U don’t have 2 be rich
2 be my girl
U don’t have 2 be cool
2 rule my world
Ain’t no particular sign I’m more compatible with
I just want your extra time and your
Kiss
Yes
I think I wanna dance
Gotta, Gotta
Little girl Wendy’s parade
Gotta, gotta, gotta
Women not girls rule my world
I said they rule my world
Act your age, mama (Not your shoe size)
Not your shoe size
Maybe we could do the twirl
U don’t have 2 watch Dynasty
2 have an attitude
U just leave it all up 2 me
My love will be your food
Yeah
U don’t have 2 be rich
2 be my girl
U don’t have 2 be cool
2 rule my world
Ain’t no particular sign I’m more compatible with
I just want your extra time and your
