I always thought that it was weird the way Prince would use numbers and letter representations for his lyrics. I always wondered if it somehow changed the meaning of them or if he was trying to convey a different thought. Who knew that he was on the forefront of “text-a-bet?”
You’ve got some country on there, so how about Keith Whitley’s When You Say Nothing At All, or Alison Kraus’s version, or the version where they dubbed the 2 and made it sound like a duet. You can’t beat either of those two’s voices.
Ok, I hereby admit that I am the king of cheese…and my wife loves it! Here is a list for you to peruse:
When I See You Smile- Bad English
Eternal Flame- The Bangles
Mad About You- Belinda Carlisle
I Don’t Want To Live Without You- Foreigner
Follow You, Follow Me-Genesis
Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love- Glen Madeiros
Sea of Love- The Honeydrippers
So Alive- Love and Rockets
True Love- Madonna
Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic- The Police
Never Gonna Give You Up- Rick Astley
The Search Is Over- Survivor
Love Is All Around- Wet,Wet,Wet
I’ll Be Your Everything- Tommy Page
That is a great song. I love it, so does my wife. It was on the first CD, and I’m trying to not duplicate. I’m a huge Alison Kraus fan. She sure can fiddle.
Great song. Peter Gabriel is one of my favorites. I love his soundtrack for The Last Temptation of Christ. Very cool. Anyhow, I think you suggested that the first go around, and I used it then. Thanks.
Indeed, you must be the “king of cheese” if you can pull out Glen Madeiros. I forgot all about that song. Genesis is a really good suggestion. So is the Love and Rockets. I forgot all about Survivor too. Excelsior!!!
Well I am one of those people for whom music is a huge part of life. Just about any song will bring a memory back to me, so I have some seriously eclectic tastes and a knowledge that blows people away. I also just spent four months living apart from my wife for my new job and spent a lot of time downloading music in the evenings. Honestly my list could have filled an entire page…and I could do that for just about any kind of CD you would make. I often get random phone calls from friends that start with “who does that song with that line…” or “What was that song by that band with…”
Music has always been big in my life too, just not always listening to it. My kids are starting to get into it now, so I have been relishing listening to music from when I was their age.
I’m sorry to hear that you are spending so much time away from your wife. That has got to be rough. My wife just started a new position, that is requiring her to be away more. We have always worked opposite shifts to avoid daycare. So now we are like ships passing in the night. But at least we are passing!
