This guy has had some dubious debate moments but tonight when he stated he would close three federal departments but could not, after bumbling and stumbling, name the third; Commerce, Education, and uh, hmm, wait no that’s not it, not EPA, oh well, I just don’t know. I almost felt bad for him.

I think this is my favorite debate just because of the Money Honey.
While it is important that any potential leader is intelligent and can argue intelligibly. I also thought the debate process is kind of stupid.
Being a good debater doesn’t make one a good president. It just means you are good at debating.
In college and highschool, there were debate teams. And some of the guys and girls were impressive to watch, but it didn’t really correlate well with any success or ability to lead. It just meant there were reasonably intelligent and practiced debating a lot.

Edit: slightly off topic but I also don’t get the energy hate. Half their budget is just nuclear development, cleanup, and protection that absolutely has to be done.

Yes and no. Good debating is a very good skill for a president to have when it comes to negotiating with other world leaders and politicians here in the US. But you are correct that it is over emphasized in the campaigns.

I only saw the highlights but when he said that he would plant a flag right in the middle of the USA that said OPEN FOR BUSINESS I was kind of embarrassed for him.
