I currently use a FlipBelt but of course with a giant phone it works but it’s not ideal. I mainly carry my phone on longer runs or when I’m somewhere more remote for safety reasons. Any suggestions? It’s an iPhone 8 Plus. I don’t know if an armband would be comfortable or not.
I hated my arm band and I dont have the larger size phone.
I have found that some of my tighter fitting shorts are my best option for running with my phone. You feel it bounce a little, but forget about it quickly. It doesn’t work for all of my running shorts, for those I have a small fuel belt that the phone just barely fits into.
I’ve heard good things about the orange mud brand hydration packs and stuff, it their stuff seems pretty expensive.
I always leave it at home.
I use this. Like it. Hated arm band.
I should try the spibelt. People seem to like it
I don’t use it but know several people who swear by the Naked Running Band. Especially for larger stuff like the iPhone.
I only carry my phone with me, nothing else so this is perfect.
Throw it in, zip it and run.
Feels no different to me than a race belt, but I have a standard size iPhone, no need to have a phone large enough to jump start s car ha!
I’ll go against the grain and say that I like my arm band.
I have wired headphones (super cheap ones) and use an arm band so I can change it around (change playlist/podcast/volume/etc.). I have a spibelt, and have tried other belts but I didn’t like them as much. My 2 cents. You can usually find one fairly cheap so it might be worth a shot anyways.
alternative suggestion (although, not as cheap as a waist belt): get an Apple Watch series 4 with LTE, and leave the phone at home. I haven’t run with my phone since the series 3 with LTE came out next September 2017. The first run without the phone was very liberating, and I seriously cannot imagine running with my phone again. I can take/make calls, respond to texts, etc.
I have a Samsung j6 + which is pretty much the same size. I struggled with an armband for a while but hated it. Tried running with a jacket, but the phone bounced around in the pocket like a kid on Christmas Eve. Eventually I found some running tights from peak performance with a pocket on the right hip that is just big enough to fit the phone.
if its only for safety reasons… get a very small light (dumb) phone from a few years ago with a prepaid card or something? my iphone x weighs a ton compared to my iphone 4s.
I use one of these, works great. In contrast to the other guys I actually like running with an armband although I’m mindful of getting bad tan lines - but then we are cyclists as well as runners so that ship has already sailed.
What works well for me is also wearing a smart watch which can control the music player on the phone. I use my Vivoactive 3 with Amazon for music, and olde worlde wired earphones.
I only run with my cellphone when I go on long trail runs… and the best option is running with a cycling jersey (or tri top) with its three back pockets. Of course it has to be tight so it doesn’t move.
“Emergencies riiiight. Like when you have an emergency mid workout Instagram selfie opportunity?
When you’re out for the long run and its going to be 2-3hrs with forecasting to be 80+ degrees, its good to be able to call someone for a number of reasons.
I’m currently using the flipbelt and have used the spielbelt before. A Samsung Note owner and not a fan of the armbelt for large phones. Both belts works/ed for me. The issue is neither is perfect and I feel there isnt such a solution. I use belts for long runs (1hr+) and find the belt usually lasts me 2-3 months before they lose their elasticity. You can adjust this to somewhat mitigate this on the spielbelt, but at some point you’ll find yourself routinely/annoyingly adjusting the belt mid run. When the flipbelt starts to give out I start to get an uncomfortable chafe right above the waistline of my shorts on my back. So I find the only solution is just to buy a new one unfortunately.
Would love to have my sim in my phone, but training on a garmin I wouldn’t give up the metrics.

Good idea. But just too expensive.
I’d suggest trading your phone in for a smaller one, the plus models are huge. I have one and hate it, worst phone choice I’ve ever made.
I use the Salomon Agile 250 as found the elastic belts tended to bounce around too much. This one is a bit bigger and has velcro closure to keep it secure and for easy adjustment through the run, might be a little too big as I usually carry keys, phone (Galaxy S8) and cards with me as I do a lot of run commuting.
These work great for me and my iPhone XS (non-plus). https://www.desotosport.com/collections/run/products/tuesday-run-short
Sometimes I’ll also use a Naked Running Band when on longer trail runs and need to be carrying water with me. It will hold just about anything and more.
