General thoughts.
Yes, he’s weird. But compared to other peers in the CEO/Tech ranks… Zuckerman, Bezos, … Jobs, … they’re weird too.
Compared to other competitive companies, his have been (decently) successful. (Tesla vs. Fisker, or other EVs comparatively struggling; Starlink vs. I dunno, but am sure there’s others out there; SpaceX has won some contracts vs. others… ). That’s not a bad portfolio of company performance.

I want to add a Starlink to our boat in the spring. I hate supporting him but there really isn’t an equivalent on the market and I doubt there will be soon.
I put it in the Howard Hughes category. You can be brilliant at some things and have a personal defect otherwise that’s pretty bad. No need to get into examples or opinions on that one, but I have to personally admit some of the brilliance and drive for some things Musk does. But also there’s a lot of his character that is far from ideal.
I feel the flaws outweigh the plusses in regards to him being someone I would be comfortable having in government, even if he was a liberal.
Life gets a lot simpler if you commit to admiring traits and actions, not the people who temporarily exhibit or take them.
He seems quite obtuse. Is there a compassionate bone in his body? I don’t know. Fathering multiple children with multiple women it seems like it is just normal to him. With his frenetic lifestyle is there any chance he spends time with them? I read his authorized biography a few years ago and it made me think I wouldn’t want in any way to work for him or be associated with. Yes the federal gov’t is bloated but unwinding that is a job for somebody with a skilled approach I think he would just leave wreckage behind him.
