Gene Hackman and wife found dead

You’re not kidding. Stories like this make me hug my family tighter at night and make the time for more memories.

So how did the dog die, starvation? One would think that if hungry enough, he would have eaten the dead meat left in the house. Or perhaps the dog was also on medication and the wife was the principal one to administer it…

Sad all around, but if all 3 had to go, they went in the right order I suppose…

I believe I read the dog was in a crate so it couldn’t get out.

I think the dog was in a cage so prolly died hard of dehydration. Wife died of hunta virus and poor old Gene wandered around the house for a while and just died. May be wrong, but from the stories, that may be right.

I thought I read that the dog was locked in a crate.

When I read the story today my main reaction was that these are details I would be fine not knowing.

My god, no kidding. It sounds like a horror show at the end. Especially with the hantavirus. That means there was a rodent infestation.

That is why folks we need to do a wellness checks on our friends/neighbors. I currently do three folks. Had four, but we put one in assisted care last year. I freekin won her cat. It is a pretty nice cat, but that is exactly what I needed…another pet.

My God where were their family?

It’s now been about a month since their bodies were discovered, and yet no family member/s have claimed the bodies. Seems very strange.

I thought I saw somewhere his kids were not in his will.

Yes like Jerry Lewis, he wrote his kids out of his will.

Article mentions that Arakawa was Hackman’s sole beneficiary in his will. Still, not a reason for his kids to just leave him / her unclaimed. Cold.

I reckon leaving children out of wills is the ultimate narcissistic act for a narcissist. Rich and famous people often devote their whole life and being to their job/public with the kids being devoid of a real parent.

The inherentence should be the reward for the sacrifice the whole family made in allowing that person to live out their dream and fulfill their never ending ego. To then cut the children out… Well yeah I wouldn’t be in a rush to claim the bodies either…

I figured when they were dead for so long before being found that they were likely estranged from family.

His kids are no longer kids in that they must be about 60 years old and living their own lives. Must have been estranged for a very long time.

So much for their BS family statement that they loved dad. How much effort does it take for them to come together and take care of business? Even if it’s just to get closure.

No doubt its strange. But, the thing I’ve learned from every significant death in the family that we’ve experienced … it’s always complicated, and it can bring feelings up that have been buried for a long, long time. Often no one even knows or realizes what those feelings are (or that they even have them) and how it will effect them, until its too late.

It’s taken my daughter 20 months, to come to terms with the death of my mother, and the aftermath. I don’t think she had a clue how many feelings she had or how it was going to hit her that day and in the weeks that followed. She was estranged from my Dad until 3 weeks ago…they were as close as can be for 33 years.

So…I’ll leave a bit of space for grace…

His kids are early to mid-60s. He died intestate so it’s not cut and dried. Also, I don’t know that they were estranged, but he said in interviews that he may not have been the best father or around when they were younger.

They were his kids from a previous marriage, and multiple reports have indicated they had been estranged for a number of years, with him writing them out of his will in the early 2000s. Apparently his second wife (who died around the same time as he did) was fairly influential in helping rebuild some of the connections that fell apart between Hackman, his first wife, and those children.

Also, I didn’t think he died intestate. I thought the issue was that he left everything to his wife, who unfortunately is also dead. Maybe technically intestate if his will would be invalid because the beneficiary was already dead?
