Along with their dog.
My money is on suicide.
Maybe carbon monoxide leak, but Iâd think cops would know that right off the bat if that were the case and release it.
plus the dog though? I could see killing a spouse but not a dog
I know Iâve seen instances in the past where they kill the dog too, hell sometimes they kill their kids.
Great actor. Uncommon Valor and Hoosiers were favs!
Royal Tenenbaum
Yes my thoughts terminal illness in one and a pact made by the other.
Or even just a pact without terminal. I mean life itself is terminal.
Not sure the dog got a vote on this one. Then again maybe the dog was terminal.
No foul play suggests there was a note(s) of some sort. Just Jack?
He made some really good movies.
Iâm going with CO poisoning. Although we did have a guy down the road kill himself, wife and 2 dogs. Torched his house with all of them inside.
Well that would constitute âfoul playâ
Only where itâs clear to authorities that all (human) parties involved clearly provided their own consent could they make such a statement?
No suicide note or anything, so a CO leak would be my guess. 95 years old is up there.
This actually happened in the neighborhood next to mine. I heard one of the shots. A guy shot his wife, his dog, and then himself. Pretty sure he shot himself last.
It is kind of an interesting story. His father was involved in one of the famous horror movies (Friday 13th???) and the son was receiving residuals from the movie of around $640k a year.
They refused to take out the garbage, so they put it all in a back bedroom. It was infested with bugs and fleas in addition to the stink. Whoever cleaned it out had to hire people dressed in haz mat suits.
The comedian Ryan Sickler has a podcast where he talks to regular people with interesting stories. He had a guy on a couple of times who worked for a company that goes in and cleans up the mess after a dead body is found. Sometimes this is weeks after death and in absolute pig styes. Crazy work.
This is a grim story, but, my wifeâs best friend died last year. She struggled with mental health issues and was hiding some substance abuse issues from everyone. She ended up drinking herself to death over the course a few weeks.
She was found in a horrific state. She was in bed and had probably been too sick to leave for several days. The bed was completely soiled, huge swarm of flies everywhere, and her apartment was just full of rotten food, take out containers, and empty alcohol bottles. It was a total hazmat situation and the apartment had to be nearly gutted and refurbished afterwards.
After the body was removed, my wife and their other close friend took it upon themselves to go through her belongings, save sentimental things for her parents, and just⌠try to make the apartment bearable for when the deceasedâs family eventually has to see it. My wife and her other friends are all nurses so arenât phased by death or bodily fluids and such things but that experience shook them. I think they also felt remorseful about not being able to save their friend, not that they really could have.
Just to make that story a bit more depressing, the deceased girlâs sister had also died in a bizarre way 10 years earlier. She was on a sailing trip with her boyfriend. They were gone 3 months, in constant contact for the duration of the trip, and were a few days from returning for thanksgiving when all of a sudden they vanished. No sos call, no storms or rough weather reported in their area, no wreckage ever found. Just gone.
I couldnât imagine how their parents cope with losing both kids like that.
Interesting thread on Hackman
Nice to hear he was a good guy.
The old adage is true, you can tell a lot about someone by how they treat other people. Loved him in the French Connection and the various âwarâ movies, especially Crimson Tide and Bat 21.

No foul play suggests there was a note(s) of some sort. Just Jack?
Most suicides donât have a suicide note. The âno foul playâ comment stood out to me. Whatever it is, it must be pretty obvious to make that comment. Generally, the ME/coroner will release cause and manner of death (ie CO poisoning, accident; GSW, suicide, etc).
Regardless, sad day. I loved Gene Hackman as an actor and he seemed like a good human.
Dying comfortably at home at age 95 is a pretty good deal if you ask me.
He played some great roles.
The Daily Fail in the UK has some reporting. I wonât link but if the article is accurate it sounds like a joint suicideâŚsome time ago.
