There was a USPS mailer in our mailbox yesterday. I’m thinking, “Wow, those replacement aero bar arm pads that I ordered earlier this week sure got here quickly!” But when I opened the mailer, out dropped a couple of at home Covid-19 test kits. Imagine my disappointment.
It made me think, “Why/how did we get these?” I haven’t been following every piece of Covid-19 related news, so I Google’d to see if I could find out what the story is. No luck (but then I’m pretty challenged when it comes to technology). We didn’t do anything to request at home test kits. I’ve checked with friends and relatives and no one else has received these kits.
Is there some US government/CDC/taxpayer funded program that is sending these out? Again, I’m possibly just living under a rock and I missed the announcement of a plan to do something like this.

Possibly but I would think that you’d still have to make a request in order to get it. The mailer had your name on it?

I asked mini-Tostig, but she and SIL didn’t order them for us.
They came in a nice USPS mailer, my name and our address on the label, and very well padded/packaged. We’re happy to have them.
I am happy to hear about the packing and padding and so forth. Nice touch! Did you notice where they came from? Reason I ask is that our latest round of free kits (not from this federal program, but through the county) came from China…literally from China.

what do you mean about reimbursement? When I ordered the USPS site said they were 0$.
For a short window of time they were not available, and you could order them online from anywhere (at a price), and most providers would pick up the bill (if ordered after 1/15/22). Google this:

Yes your provider should pick up the tab for the tests. However, as a PSA to a few posters here, they will not pick up the tab for bleach or UV light.
Mini Moonrocket just took our first free government test this morning! It was negative. Glad she could do that after vomiting after basically eating a whole box of Girl Scout cookies (middle schoolers do weird things) and do extra curriculars this weekend.
