Football (the real game, not the NFL thing :-)

A solid win and bragging rights secured.

18 yr old Lamine Yamal has the poise of a veteran. Pity he was sacrificed due to the red card on the goalie. And then the backup goalie comes in and immediately gets beaten on the free kick (but it was a well placed).

I love Ange. But the soccer is such high variance. He is the opposite of PSU’s Franklin who has no variance. Sign a defender and Muani to go with Kinsky and it’s an amazing January.

Still amazed how the turf appeared worse then my daughters college and my son’s high school.

It was a good week for Liverpool. They win and everyone else in the top 5 drops points.

The bloody feed cut out seconds before Darwin’s first goal. The LFC bar we were at went apoplectic until everyone’s phones blew up with push alerts announcing the goal and we then got the feed back just as he scored the second one and everyone lost their minds.

Been a very good week for us. Hopefully our dip in form is over or at least minimized.

Pleased that Leeds is also a point clear on top. My cousins in York are beyond chuffed with their performance.

As an aside the UWMNT “C-squad” looked pretty good yesterday. Enjoyed the style of play Pochettino is implementing.

I only saw highlights. Heard Nunez scored two coming on as a sub at the very end. Quite the way to save the day.

Watched a few minutes, then changed the channel. Friendlies definitely lack some of the competitive fire, and yeah - the c-squad wasn’t doing it for me.

I was happy McGlynn scored that banger after Miljevic took the PK from him.

Didn’t Miljevic know he has ice in his veins.

NYT article on the origins of Nottingham Forest. Roots go way back to 1865…
(and with their win yesterday, they’re now in 3rd place in the table)

January camps are when the potential future stars start to get experience and show their worth. I enjoy them for that reason alone.

Not everyone; Forest tried to blow a 3-0 halftime lead, but we just held on

Yeah thanks, I posted that before the Sunday games. City has pulled back into a Champions League spot, thanks largely to the wheels coming off at Chelsea.

It’s going to be a fun second half of the season!

Didn’t get a chance to catch any games this weekend, but noticed

'Forest put 7(!) past BHA.
Arsenal over Man City 5-1.

Either of those games would’ve been fun to watch.

Man Utd’s loses another one. Drama there continues. And I think Rashford’s going to Villa.

In FA Cup news a huge upset… Plymouth Argyle knocks out Liverpool !

Granted, Liverpool rested their A-team players.

I had to check - Plymouth are a league below Liverpool, and at the bottom of that table. They may get relegated further. Literally, “not in the same league”. But credit to Plymouth on a solid game plan to hold onto the win.

Any of yous guys know about getting tix to watch a game live, in London?

Looking at the weekend of March 1-2, Sat, Sun.

No Premiership games that weekend, arghh.
Wouldn’t mind watching Championship League match though. Leeds, Norwich, etc…

Buy tix stateside ahead of time? Show up on game day ticket window (I can’t imagine they sell out). Approx cost?

Sorry that I can’t help about tickets, but I’d be interested if you make it to a Championship game.

I’d say start trying to buy tickets now.

Definitely buy ahead of time, gone are the days when you could rock up and get in to a match. QPR, Orient and Millwall are easier to get to by underground, the other teams South of the river are a bit trickier as I recall, although haven’t been to the new Wimbledon ground

There’re 4 Champions League games today, but the City vs Real probably gets more attention than the 3 other games combined.

Any thoughts on the plausible outcome?

Oooh, that’s a good matchup.

I’ll give the nod to RM over City, given City’s struggles all season in the PL and the Champions League. Madrid’s had their issues too, but less so relative to City. And I think they’re over Mbappe’s growing pains.

Appreciate the tips. Thanks. Will look into it.

And Real Madrid will have a chip on their shoulders given the results of the last two La Liga matches.
