Darn, I missed the end. I had to leave at the 60 minute mark and LFC was up 2-0.
I did catch the entire Arsenal game. Wow, what an ending–it was literally the last action of the game.

Salah looked miserable on the bench and warmups.
And now there’s some statement he released complaining about being sidelined.
There’s more to the Salah story than I realized last week. He’s talking about leaving the club. Apparently, he and Slot have a problem.
Slot coached them to a title, and Salah is 33 so I’m not sure what to make of it.
IMO Salah’s in the wrong here.
Pro sports is what-have-you-done-for-me-lately and Salah’s production has dropped off this season. Past glory only goes so far. He should be talking positively about getting back on track, not whining about present circumstances and setting the stage for a transfer.
In somewhat quiet soccer news Miami won the MLS title yesterday. With each round being a series it felt like the playoffs were an entire season long.
Messi was instrumental in the win. Anything other than a win with him on the team probably would’ve been a disappointment.
Rumors of Maresca (left) taking over from Pep (right). It would be a rather a smooth transition in several aspects.
But is there ever a better picture to illustrate their similarities?
I’m watching the City game and apparently there is something to the rumor. They didn’t specifically mention Maresca, but apparently Pep did made a comment that he won’t be there forever and they’re thinking about his successor.
Not surprisingly, they’re up on the Hammers, but West Ham have had their moments of quality.
Just saw the 2nd half of Man City over Nott’s Forest.
Despite the large gap in the standings between these two, in the 2nd half they seemed evenly matched. Top teams find a way to get the result, and City are now just behind Arsenal (they kickoff soon).
I caught a couple of games today. The first was the Liverpool v Wolves. They had a nice tribute to Diogo Jota as he played for both clubs. His wife and two boys were there and the boys were out on the field for the pregame ceremony. It was touching.
Also saw the Chelsea v Villa game. Villa are on an unbelievable run of 11 consecutive wins in all competitions. That ties their best in franchise history and last done in 1915.
Villa’s doing very well this season. 3rd place in the table is great for them.
I only caught the early game, but tracked the scores. Looks like the standings remain the same with leaders taking 3pts from wins.

Rumored for awhile, but still surprising…
More of the same by Liverpool. The announcers here brought up a great point I didn’t think of earlier. We are missing a creative offensive threat like Luis Diaz which puts more pressure on the back and midfield. Even Salah would have potentially made a difference today but offensively we threaten nobody with our lineup. Dominating possession and shots but they never really threatened. We miss the creativity of Diaz. Nobody in the lineup is even close.
10 Games, 7 draws, 3 of them 0-0
Arsenal, Everton and Newcastle getting the only wins.
Of the 4 matches today, only goals from a 1-1 tie between Palace and Fulham.
Pep mandated that his players not gain weight over the holidays. Didn’t seem to benefit Man City. Unusual for Haaland not to score.
They had 3 games in 10-11 days. You’d have to be doing some serious eating and drinking to gain noticeable weight. That would be an interesting challenge.
I watched the game today and think the guys did a great job breaking it down. I also thought about Salah. He’s always impressed me with his pace and quickness to be able to create. I don’t totally understand the apparent falling out between Salah and Slot. It will be interesting to see how it plays out when he gets back.
In surprising, but unsurprising news, Amorim’s time at Man U has ended. The slowly revolving door of managers entering and exiting continues. No one’s really been able to fill Sir Alex’s shoes.
Well said about surprising but not surprising. I don’t follow ManU closely, so I’m surprised. They’re doing much better this season. They finished 15th and dangerously close to relegation last season. They’re 6th now and close to a Champions League spot.
The problem with all sports is that no one gives a coach/manager/player time to grow and develop. During the broadcast of the Spurs game Thursday they discussed how some people wanted Thomas Frank fired, but their take was you need to allow him to develop his team, not to judge him by the team that got the last guy fired. In todays world Sir Alex would have been fired after his second year at ManU.
