Re: Amorim, he came in mid-season, but then had an off-season and Man U spent millions on acquiring players during his tenure to fit his system. And getting rid of some too. But it seems like his inflexibility with formations, and recent discord with higher ups led to the decision to cut him loose at this point.
It’s a plum job, and I’m sure there’s no shortage of candidates that would be willing to step in. I’m available
Crazy couple of footy days. I think the most fun has to be Macclesfield upsetting Crystal Palace. They are in the 6th tier essentially. I don’t know if there is ANYTHING anywhere that would be equivalent outside of a bar b-ball team playing and upsetting a MLB team. So much fun for them. Especially considering they were essentially brand new (came into being in 2020 after Macclesfield town went belly up). And Wrexham won….again.
Speaking of Wrexham, if they do happen to make it to the top league, will they be vilified as much as ManCity used to be for “buying” their way to the top? Is that already happening in some circles?
Finally, Pepi is out for a few months after breaking his arm in a crazy goal scoring bicycle kick.
With Emirates and Middle East money behind Man City, the phrase “spare no expenses” takes on a whole new meaning. Even with financial fair-play rules in place to ensure some kind of level playing field.
Speaking of City and fair-play, the never-ending investigation drives me nuts. The investigation was started in 2018! Google doesn’t give any indication of when it will finally be resolved, but it certainly appears it’s still ongoing.
The only insight I have is the same as what’s been shared publicly.
The (alleged) violations go all the way back to the 2009 season. Latest hearings concluded in 2024. A verdict/decision was expected in mid 2025, but that’s now pushed out to 2026. We’ll see.
What I do suspect is ongoing are active backroom discussions to work out some kind of deal.
