**Sadly we may never know the true motivation. **
I’d go out on a limb and “guess” that it has something to do with the recent statements from Abu Bakr al Baghdadi.

Yah. I just can’t figure out the true motivations of these Lutherans and Baptists, for sure. I wonder what’sdriving them?
Oh, well. Invite a scorpion into your house and you’re bound to be stung from time to time. But that’s just part of living in a large city these days, correct?
i think the good mayor’s one line has been taken largely out of the context he was trying to relay but i do hear your overall msg.

The Edmonton Inuit just doesn’t have the same ring to it.
Beat me to it! Go Riders!

There seems to be a trend in Europe and now in Canada that those responsible for terrorist attacks are known to the police in advance. They are part of large groups that are being watched and most likely because they’ve travelled to Syria, are known to have fought with ISIS, and are then allowed back in their home countries.
My simple solution is that if people go to Syria or Pakistan or other places and they are known to fight for an extremist group, simply cancel their passport when they are out of the country. Then we don’t have to spend all our resources watching them and waiting for them to kill innocent people before any action is taken.
Mr. Trudeau, you’re welcome.

Somalia? How many terrorist attacks around the world are committed by Somalis? I honestly don’t know.

Completely agree.
As for this particular terrorist, if I was a refugee who had dreams of making it to a better place, and I ended up in Edmonton, I’d probably kill a few people too!

Pfft… you’d never get re-elected…

I don’t know the number but they have been a threat for a long time. Going way back during the Black Hawk mission in Somalia during the Clinton administration, they have been a hotbed of terrorist activity. Somalia is a failed State because of the various warlords and terror groups.
I’ve been surprised there aren’t more Somalis involved in terrorist attacks, they have some pretty rough groups.
Sure , but you’re in BC. You’d have a desire to kill if you were anywhere else so you don’t count.

Except that is against international law. You can’t make someone stateless
