I put this on the Day 6 thread a moment ago, but I’m already doing pretty good for Day 7. I got in a nice trainer workout followed by a 1600 swim before work. Shooting for a 9 mile run this afternoon. I’m at 194.5 points for seven days. I might have more depending on how we’re counting trainer workouts. My point totals are good for me, low for some of the rest of you. I’m amazed at how much some of these guys train.
RP
I too am amazed by the totals. Up to this morning, I have logged 162 points. What I thought about as I was looking at the training that I have been doing is yes: there are so many out there that are putting in longer miles etc than myself, BUT compared to the average North American, I am and we are in about the top 10 percentile of being fit. I look around at what other people are doing on the treadmill, to compare speed (even on the tread mill, it’s still a race), and I am usually the fastest one going on the treadmill, and I am only at 7.2-7.5 mph (base training) and that’s pretty slow compared to a lot of people out there.
My 2 cents, as usual
I’m posting this early today to force myself to take the rest of the day off. My legs are toast. I’m no Epicman. But I have high hopes for some Epic points this weekend…
7 Day totals…
Sat - swam 3000, rode 70, ran 2
Sun - ran 10
Mon - swam 3500, rode 50
Tue - swam 3500, ran 10
Wed - rode 50
Thu - ran 10, rode 25
Fri - swam 3500
Total Points = 458
I haven’t updated my totals since day 3. After my Wednesday ride, I’m up to 173. I’m going to have to basically DNF. Since I did dislocate my shoulder on Saturday, I can only ride my bike right now. I tried to run last night and it’s a bit too painful to be worth it. I was only planning on one more bike ride this week and it’ll be a doozy for me because of the climbing but not all that impressive mileage wise. Have fun all. I’m blown away by the numbers people are putting up and am humbled in your presence!
Dang dude. You did the Slowman Epic ride with a bum shoulder? You should get something for that, like and extra 3-7 points. I hereby award you! ![]()
You must be taking training advice from Tyler Hamilton!
Ha! Thanks. It’s actually not bad at all while riding. Though any turns or descents scare the hell out of me right now. I couldn’t imagine crashing on it again. Running and especially swimming are a no go for now however.
Totals as of Friday Morning-
3/13 Sat - Ride 118 ( 2 loops World’s Toughest Half Course for recon.), Run 1.5
3/14 Sun - Run 17 mi
3/15 Mon - Swim 2200m
3/16 Tues - Run 7.5, bike 13 fixed gear (commute), 20 min weights/core (no points)
3/17 Wed - Swim 3500m, Bike 13 fixed, Run 4.5
3/18 Thurs - Run 7, Bike 4 (PC on trainer), 30 min core work (no points)
3/19 Fri - Swim 3600m (60 x 50m on :50 main set), run 2mi (treadmill), bike 13 fixed.
Giving 412 points. Planned workouts for the evening are another swim 1400-2000m and maybe some more treadmill work.
Have a good weekend everyone!

hey francois…were you riding tubulars or clinchers? if you weren’t racing it’s okay to say tubulars…otherwise…expensive training
at least all you have to replace is the tubes…breaking out the antiflat voodoo for francois…go for 1500…but no more injuries/set backs

Sure wish I had been in on the ground for this points thing and how it works. Not like I’d have much more than like a hundred or something. But it has me curious.
All this has me curious and well I would like to throw in my 6 day total points at 312. Far below Francois…but following my coaches training diligently. What about DWR as points? don’t count laps for DWR just time. Any points for that?
day seven total at 365 points …correction

Today, mellow friday like always. Feeling still a bit sick and would have most likely taken a break if not for the semi camp. But swimming does not seem too strenuous.
Here we go, Day 1-6: 323points
03/1, day 7, 2200yard swim: 22points
7day total: 345
Fine, I’ll say it. Francois, you’re godlike. Or something. You have some sick points.
Day 6 total: 214
Today:
Rode 20 miles before work: 20 pts
Ran 5.25 after work 21 pts
Day 7 total: 255 pts
I usually take Friday nights off, but you’re motivating me to do more. I should have 13 hours in this week, even though Sunday was a bust.
tomorrow I will ride 60 miles +/-, then getting a bike fitting at FastSplits in Newton. I’ll let you know how that goes.
