Day 7:
Swim: 3,000m - 30 pts
Bike: 15 miles - 15 pts
Total: 45 pts
Total day 1-7: 397
As Phil Leggit would say, “I think he’s cracked”. I was beat by the time I got home from work. I was going to bag the ride this evening, but I had to get my points in for the day. Tomorrow I have a long run scheduled with a 5k race included.
I think that the swimming is too generous at 1 point for 100m. Should be a point for every 200. Running mile easy takes about 7min, swimming an easy 500 takes roughly the same. One is worth 4 points the other worth 5. The running is physically more demanding upon the body.
I demand a recount! (Being a duathlete i’m a bit biased)
I’m up for that, even if it is a 4 day weekend or something along those lines. Keep me posted. If you want rather warm temps, I have 2 extra bedrooms in Phoenix. Tucson is a better place to train though.
I’d like to try Santa Fe or Albequerque(sp) as well.
Swim Masters 3600m=36 pts - I put in an extra long cool down for that
Bike 56 miles=56pts, and I had a slow leak on by rear tire. I was really wondering why I felt so damn crappy about halfway through the ride. Oh well. first flat of the year. 92 pts today
Pretty feeble for a Friday…feeling kinda beat (okay, and a tad hungover). A friend of mine is looking at tri bikes and stopped by for a beer and bike talk…guess we just got carried away. Got in a 4.5 mile walk with my wife and the dogs out on the trail - don’t know if it counts or not since you couldn’t call it a run. If so, chalk up 18 pts for a 7 day total of 406. If not, no biggie. Been hitting it fairly hard this week - this experiment has been a fun way to stay motivated and step it up a bit. Unfortunately, I’ve got my first race of the year on Sunday (a pretty rolling half marathon) and I don’t want to blow it in the quest for a couple extra points. Tomorrow will probably consist of a short, EZ run and not much else…alas. Hope we can do it again once it warms up enough here in IL to get in some big bike miles! Train hard…train smart!
So much for a day off. Needed the points. I had a big 4 accounting firm cert my results (due to previous math errors). Again, I have been in the gym more then most so you compare my results less 60 to those of you who are all swim/ride/run:
Again, I think the gym session points allocation is too high as is the run allocation vs the bike milage allocation (you can bike a mile at 20 mph in 3 minutes but you only get 1 point vs. a 1 mile run in 8 min, which nets you 4 points)…but I am not complaining. Big ride tomorrow, assuming the weather holds up.
Things like this are all relative. I don’t think I train enough. I train as much as I can, but I still don’t think it’s enough. But the people I work with call me obsessive compulsive for all the exercise I do. And Friday, my wife told me that she thinks I exercise too much. She doesn’t hassle me about it, she just mentioned it in conversation. So yeah, some of us might not do as much as others on the forum do, but we do more than that average person. All in all, it’s about being healthy, happy and leading a balanced life. That’s what is important. I’d love to train more (and I probably could if I was willing to find the time), but it would come at a cost – that being family time. So I’ll plod along, training as much as I can and trying to enjoy the lifestyle and the sport. I try to shoot for around 10 hours a week, but if I don’t get it, no big deal. I’m not training for an IM anyway!
