Lets do a little math using NYT numbers. They say we are averaging 1200 daily arrest.
But if you look at the last two months Feb. 76,000 and Mar. 100,000 (NYT #'s) you get 176,000 in two months.
176,000 divided by 59 days = 2,983 (not 1200 daily)
According to the article “Record numbers of Central American families flee violence and poverty in their homelands, they are overwhelming United States border systems, fueling a humanitarian crisis of overcrowding, disease and chaos.”

On a personal note I was at a Home Depot the other day and I saw what looks like a small central American woman dragging a suitcase and she had a young kid with her.
Maybe she was legally here, just taking a stroll down the sidewalk with her boy and suit case or maybe this will be a new common sight.

Spend the money to process the asylum seekers at points of entry. The only reason they are not applying at ports of entry, is because the administration is stopping them. So they go and cross somewhere else. This is not rocket science.

and invest a bit more in the places they are coming from. A win win. A prosperous non-violent central America is good for them and good for us in the US.
I am curious to know that since the crisis of asylum seekers overwhelming us, I have not heard of the other crisis of Mexican rapists, murderers and other of similar ilk crossing the border. Did they stop coming? Are they escaping CBP attention as well as the media’s attention? Is the wall no longer required? If so, then just use those monies. Somewhat serious but with a hint of sarcasm.

Actually, we have been building bigger and stronger fences/barriers/walls for some time. I was there in Southern California when the first fences were built between San Ysidro and Tijuana, a bunch of steel plates meshed together. Later it became a different style of steel bars mixed with steel plates, trending stronger and higher with new features (curved sections and anti-cutting sections) as the barriers adapted to what the smugglers were doing to overcome the barriers.
Walls are not a waste, they give the Border Patrol a break as the walls prevent mass banzai runs of hundreds of illegals all running helter skelter across the border. Been there and done that, it is not as much fun as it sounds. Too many agents have been hurt by those illegals, plus they are used as cover for narcotics smuggling.
