Coffee Shop Injured Reserve

I feel this deeply. But more when my kid umpires. House league is so hard to watch.

Enjoy the pain. Because if/when it gets good, it’s awesome.

Not baseball (but volleyball) for my daughter. First couple of years on travel, the teams already had spiffy uniforms, practices, coaches, and away tournaments. But OMG, they sucked. Terrible. All of the teams at that age sucked.

I commented to my wife how could we be spending all this $$ and effort for something that’s so bad? I mean even your average unathletic types at a picnic play better??

But our kiddo (and we) stuck with it - and damn it got good. High level competitive well played games were awesome to watch, and cheer on. Powerful jump serves, skilled on court rotations during plays, etc. Excellent!

(the girls scrimmaged the parents once. Yeah we got destroyed)

That is the only thing remaining from flipping my car in February. Got released from both regular and vestibular PT in the last couple weeks.

You just learn to always have background noise and look at it as an old friend.

It’s house league. It isn’t going to get good.

I’m not one to have the tv or music on when I’m puttering around the house. Or on a walk. Guess I should. I do listen to podcasts here and there. The tinnitus isn’t so bad, but fairly constant high pitch sound.

It’s worse when it’s quiet

Latest research I’ve seen is that it’s not actually damage from loud noises (of which I have certainly subjected myself to), but an abnormal activity in the auditory system, neurologically

Calvin Broadus is doing some work to help abate tinnitus symptoms through CBD/marijuana therapies, which I could possibly get behind

I got a dispensary up the street, with a fantastic mural

Used to be a bank!!!

My lead up to surgery next week has been a wirral wind. Looks like I should be healthy enough for surgery, but have been diagnosed with an ascending aortic aneurysm. Not too stoked today.

Holy crap, that sucks. I’m really sorry to hear that.

My issue isn’t nearly as bad but apparently I’m getting an ultrasound guided steroid injection in to my spine. It sounds terrifying!

That stinks, glad they found it though. Hopefully they can get it repaired quickly and safely for you.

Not sure the course of action yet, if anything besides monitoring based on what I am reading. I have some more test to schedule after surgery. Looks like surgery won’t happen till the size is larger. I am 40 looking at heart surgery in the future or it blows and I am dead.

That’s a bit of a terrifying game of chicken…

Very sorry to hear this.

Sending good vibes. And yes, surgery wouldn’t happen unless it’s larger, because of the risk to benefit ratio. Definitely something to keep an eye on, but they can be stable for many years.

I agree, my wife did find this chart which is some what comforting.

The rupture chance isn’t zero though. I just need to get as healthy as I can and stay healthy. My issue is high blood pressure and cholesterol issues are hereditary, I didn’t win the lottery there. I have a follow up next week with my own doctor and plan on talking about Cholesterol meds and gpl 1 to see if we can’t get the post other forum weight gain reduced quickly. I don’t know what my insurance will want to do.

Should add, do to just trying to make sure I was healthy enough for surgery this week. CT scan isn’t happening for a couple of weeks to confirm what was found with the Echocardiogram. Doubt there will be much different, but I should understand more after this and my cardiologist follow up.

Hernia surgery went ok yesterday as far as I can tell. 4 to 6 weeks of fun getting over this.

Meant to post to this while it was happening, but was too damn sick to even want to look at a screen: spent most of Labor Day weekend and the following two weeks sick with Giardia.

Was out of work that first week - barely got off the couch. Except to, uhh… use the bathroom… which was frequent.

If you have the option, I would recommend against giardia; not fun at all. I did lose 10-12 pounds, but not a good way to go about it.

And yes, I know how it happened: the ski house up north, most everyone in town gets their drinking water from a spring that’s been in use for around 140 years:

I lived in an apartment above an Italian beach. I believe your wife’s rendition.

Wow. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

Our pup had giardia at one point. It was a real b**ch to get rid of.

It was not fun. And apparently some people are resistant to the meds somehow and the little bastids just keep on living.

I seem to have made out Ok, as I’m feeling good and my appetite is back. Actually, I can’t seem to eat enough. But those two weeks? Holy miserable hell: basically curled up in a ball on the couch and that’s all I did.
