Challenge Roth takes place on Sunday, broadcast live with commentary from Granger and Kienle
MPro start at 06:30 local time (CEST), 0530 in the UK and 0030 EST (2130 PST Saturday). WPro start at 06:37 (seven minute gap).
The first amateur wave starts at 06:50. Will the best catch 7 minutes on Philipp?
From the Challenge Roth Competition Regulations
1.5.12 Own food and drinks
Competitors have the opportunity to ask accompanying persons to provide them with their own food and drinks up to 100m after every aid station on the bike as well as on the run course – except the aid station on the run course located in the forrest between Roth and Büchenbach.
Athletes have to arrange themselves for a person to hand them their own food and drinks. The race organizer does not assume any responsibility for such services which has to be privately organized.

He identifies the following athletes as the best swimmers;
Wojt*, Stromburg, Stratmann, Stojanovic*, Svensson*, to which reasonable to add full distance debutants:
Luis, Schoeman, Royle.
- = no special colour cap, so cue Grainger/Keinl speculation (though the camera will be close on the bank).

Just curious, but does anyone know what happened in 1989? Did the cancel the swim and run???
2.5k-93k-22k Don’t know why it was that distance. Maybe they were still working out the new agreements with Ironman and the existing race in Rothsee Tri. Jurgen said in his Brekkie with Bob interview that his first Kona was his fist Ironman distance and he was the winner of that short Roth race.
Ironman NZ wasn’t an Ironman distance the first year.

He just did 4h01m in Frankfurt - on a shorter course, yes - but Roth normally is faster than IMDE - right ?

For a moment there was a split, with three swimmers getting away, but looks like the chasers were able to connect.

Ironman Frankfurt “Watching Now” on Youtube at swim start: 20K+ (spare Kona)
The latter surprised me - can´t recall any race with this many watching live.
Maybe Challenge are using other channels also ?

Does the 1st kayaker “lead” the swim at Roth or other Challenge events, I can’t remember other events actually having a lead kayaker, mostly beside the front gorup.
