Cervelo Dual *pjorn*

Swim fast and no bike course will ever be crowded
.

Couldn’t tell ya. I’ve only done the one.

What I do know is that I can do a better job of not getting carried away and racing my own race, despite the crowd in the first few miles.

Have you started swimming yet? You NEED to the the real race at Show-Me State…

Not necessarily. When you start 28 minutes after the official race start, you’ve going to have a crowd no matter how fast you swim.

Tibbs, that was a bad misquote of the Ting Tings song

“He’s so fine he blows my mind…hey Ricky”

(My daughter always has the car stereo tuned to pop music, not my choice to listen to that stuff)
.

I started swimming last week at Scott Airforce base. Its free and a 50m pool. Plus lap swim is open for 6hrs every day. The week before I did a big bike week so I am feeling pretty good now.

I would to show me state games but I have springfield oly the week after. You could always do a looonnngggeeerrr race then show me and do springfield.

Nah. Gotta defend.

Finally…it shipped yesterday…it’s on it’s way. Will get some pics up by Saturday night as I’m gonna build her up during the day…expecting rain all weekend and there is no way I can go on a group ride knowing this beast is sitting in my garage. Arrives Friday!!!

Don’t hold out on me! What is “it”? Dual, P2, P3…???

Oh crap my bad. I passed on the new. Not sure what the reasoning is on not doing the P1 as a frame at the dealer/manufacturer level…maybe all their margin is gone at that point w/o a gruppo. Either way I begged and pleaded, but they wouldn’t budge. I just don’t like having to baby carbon so passed on those as well. Have had 2 carbon steeds and they are sexy and nice, but quite honestly I can’t tell 1 iota of ride diff. from my Madone/TTX over an alum with a good carbon fork. Honestly, my Merlin with Ouzo Pro is the best handling and most comfortable bike I have owned in 25 years.

So…it’s that Dual I thought had fallen through the cracks. Guy was just super busy with work travel. It looks the spitting image of yours…frame/fork/headset/seatpost. Cannot wait to build it up and ride the snot out of it.

Commensurate with my ghetto budget, ghetto Blackberry low res pic, ghetto garage setting…here is my sub $800 Dual. Got it today and built this mofo up during the rains this evening.

I have never seen an FSA headset like this one. Didn’t get a close up, but the top of the headset is like 2cm high and cone shaped? I’m going to have to resolve this to get the amount of drop I want. Anyone familiar with an FSA headset like this…dunno if you can see it in the pic, but it’s very odd looking.

I was quoting Toni Basil. You know you love it.

In a similar vein, how about the B-52’s “Hero Worship” from their first album (the Rock Lobster one) With the opening lines “On my knees, I try to please. Hero worship, he deserves it” LOL. Probably my favourite album of all time for some strange reason (could be Planet Claire, Dance this mess around, 52 Girls and all the other great tunes. Strangely, rock lobster is the least good song on the album!)

Looks good, but your arm cups are too far apart. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

My bike came with a similar, tall headset top cap. Inside Out Sports (who I bought my bike from) sent me the short one (5mm, I believe) that I have on my bike now when I asked shortly after receiving it. So, they are available.

I’m glad the guy sent a 1" downsizing sleeve so I can use all my stems for fitting. 0-3 at the LBS’s trying to find one so would have had to wait several days.

Do they have to pirate the top cap from an existing headset or is there a specific name for such a part? 'Small stack 1" top cap"?

How are those midfoot’s working out? I put in an hour yesterday on the Dual/trainer. Got up 3x for water and that was it…for 2 rides this thing is awfully close to dialed in comfy.

Thanks

You should be able to just contact the manufacturer’s (FSA?) customer service and request a low profile top cap (pretty sure it’s 5mm) for a 1" IS2 headset.

Too early to tell on the midfoot cleats. I’ve been having some tight/soreness in my right glute and my right knee’s been a little wonky since the switch. But, there are a few possible culprits that I need to narrow down…

  1. I made the switch right after Kansas 70.3. So, I could just still not be back to normal. (I doubt this is it, though. It’s been almost 2 weeks.)

  2. I use a single Lemond LeWedge on my right shoe with a normal cleat position to fix a slight knee tracking issue, and I didn’t have the correct wedge for an SPD cleat (and wasn’t sure I’d need it with the cleat at the midfoot). So, I’ve been riding without.

  3. I’m just not acclimated to the position yet. (I’m sure this is at least part of the issue.)

Power seems be fine, though. I’m just not as comfortable (ie. can’t go as long) as normal.

I have an SPD LeWedge coming. So, that’ll be the first thing I look at. But, I have a race tomorrow. So, as of this morning, I’m back to normal cleats/position until it arrives.

Steve

My midfoot position is taking no getting used to for some reason…it’s just ‘on’. I’m in love. Went for a run after my ride and my legs felt almost as if on a fresh pair…me likey.

That custom work you did on the shoes was nice…I would not trust myself.

I just love your setup. Everything from the wheel choice, cockpit configuration to PT I feel has been a great selection. Now I wonder do you have a picture of your position? (I just never stop)

What WB mount are you using on the stem/handlebar?

He uses 4 zipp ties.

Thanks. Since this pic was taken, I’ve retired that old Adamo Race and am now on a white Adamo Road. Looks pretty sweet, if I do say so myself.

I don’t have a current position pic, but I’ll try to get one for you. I had a race last weekend with a 20 mile bike leg and averaged ~24.5mph on 260Wavg. Not sure if that speed’s good or bad for that power (ie. not sure if my CdA is decent for someone 6’2, 185lb). But, I was pretty happy with it since I backed it up with a decent (but not great) run.
