Cervelo Dual *pjorn*

Nice set-up. I wouldnt downgrade your ride because other people can spend a ton of money on there rides. You are more aero then most of the people you are racing against. Good luck on kansas!

Since it appears I’m in the final stages of buying a Dual I wonder if any of you owners could tell me about the decals. Are they under the clear coat or could they be taken off with a heat gun? I’m one of the weirdos who doesn’t like all the garb, just a bare nekkid frame. If they can’t be removed easily I’m going to have it painted most likely…

At least on the 2006s, it’s under the clear. :frowning:

Looks awesome. I love seeing the pimped out Duals. It was definitely the best Tri bike to be had at that pricepoint.
Here is mine last time I raced it (IM Florida 2008).

That is an adorable saddle bag, precious. Do they sell men’s clothes at that store too?

Sorry, couldn’t resist! When I get mine all dressed up I will post it for ridicule.

Hi there, great set-up!!! A couple of questions if you don’t mind…

Aerobar set-up
Is that just the T2 extensions rolled inward all the way? How comfy are they? Where you just trying to get more narrow in the front?
Are your shifters also mounted upside down? reasons for that? Is hard for me to shift to higher gear with those in the regular position.

Again, great bike, looking forward to posting mine and hearing from you…

P2K/SL/P1 has the seat tube cutout while the Dual does not.

Thanks.

Yes. The T2+ extensions are rolled inward, but not all they way. If you look in the profile shots, you can see that there is still a bit of rise to them. It’s just a naturally comfortable position for me to have my knuckles touching. I don’t really grip the extensions as much as just rest my hands on them.

Yes. My shifters are “upside down”. They came that way on the new bike built by Inside Out Sports. I actually tried flipping them over for a bit, but went back to “upside down” because it felt more natural and easier to shift with them that way - especially the left (front) shifter.

I look forward to seeing your ride.

Ok so my frame will be on it’s way in a day or so…about to piss myself with anticipation.

Do you by chance have a pic of the mount for your bottle on the bars? Did you just zip tie that mofo? Will any old plastic cage work? Thanks!

My cage is ziptied to my stem, not my bars. Here are some pics when I first installed it with a Tacx Tao cage…

I’ve since changed to a Tacx Juno cage because it’s much looser, and, thus, easier/faster to remove/replace a bottle. With the bottle positioned between my forearms, there’s really no reason the cage has to be tight. Momentum and my forearms keep it from falling out.

Nice thanks.

I have not had a bike purchase make me this excited in 20 years.

How did the Kansas race went? Bike split?

It went pretty-much just as planned. My goals were a sub-5hr total and a sub-1:45 run, and I managed to accomplish both. Bike split was 2:35:21 (21.6mph).

heard the run was short, but WOW! Congratz on a great performance, I hope to go sub 5.30 in Miami later this year, a 2.45 bike split would be phenomenal.

I love seeing the tricked up Duals. Mine is the silver one too, but with 404s (no pic handy at the moment).
Those don’t look like the stock cranks - what are they, happy with them? Also, what’s under the wheel cover?

I swapped out the stock cranks for the pictured 180mm Dura Ace 53/39 cranks at the time of purchase. I am happy with them. But now that I’m getting accustomed to riding by power, I’m considering a change to a compact setup. And, I wouldn’t mind experimenting with shorter cranks (likely 170mm) at the same time. Not really in a big hurry, though.

The rear is a 28-hole PowerTap Elite+ hub laced to a Kinlin XR-300 rim with Sapim CX-Ray spokes. The head unit is the Garmin 310XT pictured.

Get a pic of your ride up here to represent!

Great job, I can see that you have imporved over the off season.

Thanks. It was mostly improved bike pacing. Although, I still think there’s some more room for improvement there. I got a little carried away in the first few miles due to the crowded course. Something to work on before Branson…

Think any offical 70.3 wont be crowded the first few miles?

That bike is so fine it blows my mind.
