Not surprising. Some very ordinary bourbon being sold as premium. People pretending there are immense differences in bourbons when there is often precious little.
I’m dumb enough that I keep trying different stuff thinking I’m going to find a magic bottle.
Reality is I could go with about the same numbers of other base liquors as I do vodka, 1, and not notice much difference. 3 whiskeys, 2 gins, 2 tequilas, 3 rums and I would be really fine.
Shifting a lake-load of bourbon should be pretty easy.
Water it down to 2 lake-loads
Label it “Trump Bourbon” with his endorsement
Sell it to MAGA at $900 a bottle.
Even after paying off DJT, there should be a nice profit.
Lets hope so. I’m guessing the “new” little distillers will “go away” and we will be back to the guys doing it for decades and decades and the price point will come back to reality.
All alcohol right? Everyone and their brother makes an overpriced craft beer. Popup distilleries and truthfully most of it is hangover swill. A small batch can still be a small batch of shit.
NA market is going to outprice itself eventually. It’s bad enough to pay $16 for a 4x16 with alcohol, let alone a faux beer. A $4 pint at home better be a good product.
The number of small distilleries that were pushing out $40-80 dollars of shit bourbon during the recent bourbon boom was just wild. They won’t be missed.
Most recent one I remember trying was Axe & The Oak and their bourbon, which is about $45 I think. IMO it was terrible, and their other bottles I’ve seen are a few bucks more than that.
There was one other brand I recently had that I can picture in my head as being terrible but can’t for the life of me remember the name. It was about an $80 bottle.
Perhaps a slightly different way to say it: These small distilleries are putting out non-traditional flavors that do not do the bourbon name justice and definitely are not worth the premium for the traditional bourbon drinker. That said - if people like it - them make it. I just won’t miss them but then I think Wild Turkey 101 can’t be beat - soooo what do I know.
I bought a Canyon e-mtb and the next month they dropped the price over $600. I sent them a message and received a bunch of accessories and gear to make up the difference. I would have preferred the money, but getting the gear was nice.
