Bourbon Boon is over

Love Wild Turkey, one of my favorite. The 101, rare breed and just grabbed a bottle of Jimmy Russell 70th anniversary are all great. Got a bottle of Stagg and Weller 12 year and I prefer all three of the Wild Turkey to either of them. And you can’t beat the price.

Russell’s is my favorite, but 101 is my daily "go to. Have not been able to find the 70’th.

I found some in a store in a pretty bad section of town. From what one guy told me, when they get product in, they have to take allocations of everything. Not just what they sell. So in a lot of these places, they get some high priced bourbon, whiskey and it doesn’t sell. The store I got the 70th anniversary had blantons, Stagg, Weller 12 yr, full proof, single barrel, Eagle rare, woodford reserve masters collection, Blue Run, etc. And all at a decent price.
A store near our office unloaded 6 bottles of Blanton’s at cost because he couldn’t get sell it. High end tequila, $100+ bottles, he’s selling that by the case.

He’s not wrong. My personal “go to” is wine shop that also sells bourbon.

My favorite “old fashioned” is 1.5oz of 101 0.5oz of smith and cross rum with a tsp of demara gum syrup. The Cocktails with Sudderman recipe is a couple dashes of orange bitters. But tonight to absentmindedly watch the AFC championship game I did a dash of black walnut and 2 dashes of pimento bitters.

My drink for the game I cared about was Athletic Brewing Triple Palm NA. Was disappointed to see its sold out as it’s 99% as good as a decent IPA.
