A couple things that suprised me…
- How high Muslims were. Especially with republicans. Much higher than jews. Was this poll before or after all the Israel-Hamas stuff?
- How high of a percentage of Republicans said transgender people. So many people who claim this party are so vocal about their distaste for this group. Perhaps it’s just a vocal minority thing?
Thinking a group is discriminated against and being against that discrimination aren’t the same thing.

Yeaaaaaaah, I saw that thread after I read this thread. My sense of humor is nonexistent at this point, I guess. That didn’t seem funny to me, either. Those jokes are just old and tired and boring, like me

I follow. But I think that the joke is on the nutters that use the nonsense term, not on feminists, women, or math folks.
My biggest surprise is that R’s say atheists aren’t discriminated against at all?
Which totally conflicts with all other data: only 41% of R’s would vote for the perfect R candidate that’s also an atheist. 69% of Dems would do the same. The only otherwise perfect candidate that would get fewer R votes would be a socialist R candidate. 42% of Rs would vote for a muslim R candidate in 2020.
I was a bit surprised by that too, but then again most people probably have no idea if someone is an atheist or not.
As mentioned, you’re reading it wrong. But it’s still messed up that more MAGAts think that white people are discriminated against than MAGAts think black people are discriminated against.
Yea thats pretty hard to believe. Slowguy mentioned the day to day discrimination and I think thats what probably fuels a lot of the perceived discrimination against whites (and subsequently the results of this poll). Things like the recent Johns Hopkins email and other day to day occurrences that the media throws in front of people probably account for that perception.
And while there are certainly instances where whites are being discriminated against, it is nowhere near to the level of disriminations blacks and other minorities have experienced.
To me, the figure seems to discriminate against people who are colorblind.
Agree. I think I may have become colorblind trying to read the dang thing.

Really,… we don’t know the question… so If since by the … after today, we know there are more words.
Lets say the question was Group experiences a lot more discrimination today, compared to (insert time between 1700 and 1960) in USA
Well now the dems seem to be the ones who are crazy, cause yeah, Whites are a lot more discriminated against today then ever before in this country (again not a measure of solid numbers just there was virtually none in that time frame and now there are programs designed to do that (arguable with good cause). And blacks yeah they are discriminated against now, but definitely not a lot more than in that time frame.
We can simply draw ZERO conclusions from this graphic as the very intentionally left off the whole question.

The “joke” itself isn’t funny to them, what is funny is making you accommodate their joke. And that really isn’t funny. I suppose we all have to accommodate at times to have a harmonious forum, but I’m not going to pretend like the joke was actually funny.

The graphic is pretty straightforward. The question isn’t listed on the graphic precisely as asked, but it seems to have been:
“Just your impression, in the United States today, is there a lot of discrimination against the following groups, or not?” With the groups listed and options for answers being yes, no, or refused to answer.
The graphic doesn’t show any weighting on which groups are perceived as being discriminated against more or less than other groups. It just shows the percent of Reps or Dems who said each group experiences a lot of discrimination.

I’ve never been a fan of accommodating stupid jokes.
It reminds me of Trump’s unintelligible nonsense. Is it a joke? Is it evil? Is it insanity? It’s not my job to sort through that shit. I don’t want to have to go along with it and pretend there’s some sort of value in garbage.
Bottom line: it’s garbage.
If other people like to sift through garbage to look for shiny things, be my guest. Different people like different things. I think it’s a waste of time. We have other better places to look.

Not sure about others, but what you say above is most definitely not true about me. I never find it funny to force people to ‘accommodate’ a joke. Ever.
My take is this:
There was a tv show once (well before my time) called, ‘kids say the darndest things’.
The ‘feminist math’ thing is funny to me in that way, like ‘conservative religious nutters say the darndest things.’ Because nutters never cease to amaze me in the wacky terms they like to make up out of thin air to weaponize words. As in, I find the nutters to be unadulterated idiots who, in the course of their nuttery, happen to completely inadvertently say hilarious things. Hence my laughter at ‘feminist math’. As if that kind math exists. Its a lot like how nutters also like to use the ‘woke’ term as a weapon. But I like the kind of humor that just turns that on its head:

I don’t know if it’s the same thing but I learned from some of my students about girl math this past semester.

Guy math: 4 = 8. As in, 4 inches = 8 inches.

Mrs Rick_pcfl: Ooh baby give me your 10 inches and make it hurt!
Rick_pcfl: So I screwed the missus 5 times and slapped her afterwards.
That, my friend, is guy math.

Really more of a visual joke, but…
Do you know why girl’s are bad at math?
Because they’ve been told their whole life, this ------------ is 8 inches.

Sorry, guess there are too many thoughtful but low IQ people here for you. You are obviously smarter how you talk down your nose to people while saying nothing insightful.
Looks like you are still bitter Jussie.

This is somewhat off track from the OP, but there is such a thing as an effort toward feminism in mathematics, and not solely in the mind of right wing nutters. Of course, it has more to do with opportunity for women in STEM fields, couching of math instruction in ways that engage female students, etc.
