http://www.endurancewerx.com/ ask for chad
google up a review of his fitting session
did mine with him, best $ spent
or Paul Levine. Pricey but worth it
I bought a bike 3 years ago from SBR and had it fit there(for free). It was my first TT bike and would say it was good enough for me at the time. 2 years later I had Chad at Endurancewerx refit me and I found it to be significantly better and well worth the cost.
I have never been fit by SBR, but I know the people that do the fits and have watched them do the fits, and I don’t feel like they know what they are doing enough to recommend them.
I got fit at Sunrise Tri on Long Island and thought they did a fantastic and thorugh job.
I have heard good things about EnduranceWerx and Chad is a good guy.
I think Toga does Retul now too.
Never had a bike fit there, but I don’t think the folks at SBR are worth going to. Started working in the neighborhood over a year ago and been stopping by at least once a month and don’t find them to be very knowledgeable at all. Not a fan.
I went through their “fit” process since it was included with the purchase of my bike.
I won’t go into detail, but highly recommend you look elsewhere.
Some good options have already been mentioned but I would also suggest reaching out to Jonathan at Acme Bicycle Co (www.acmebicycleco.com). I’ve been fit three different times and Acme is the most thorough by far. I’ve never been as comfortable on my bike. Jonathan is extremely knowledgeable about not just bike fit but can work with you on any special issues you might have as well. Definitely give him a call.
I had a fit there about 6 months ago when I bought my P2. It was free with the purchase. I felt like the fitter was very knowledgeable and understanding. Seeing as how I’m still relatively new to the cycling. She gave me good advice on how to get the most out of my rides and didnt try to upsell me a bunch of things a newbie like me wouldnt need. I thought it went very well.
I recently got a p3 Cervelo from SBR and got fitted and was happy with the Bike fit. The Fitter was very nice and was easy to talk to, and knew the answers to most of my questions. I am a experienced rider and felt like I benefited greatly from the bike fitting. Would recommend it, no reason not to.

Interesting that both you and the poster before you just registered today and only have one post. I’m not going to accuse anyone of anything, but it does seem a bit suspicious.
Busted! Hahahahahahaha. Nice work.

Thank you, thank you. The timing and wording just seemed a bit too close for comfort, so investigation was in order. I’m moving to NYC in a few weeks (from Philly) and was looking for my “new shop.” Glad to see I can cross one off my list.

Pricey is an understatement… but definitely one of the best.

A friend of mine does Retul Fitting. He’s probably one of the best amateur bike racers in the country. Knows everything there is to know about bike’s, bike fitting, and racing/training. Super nice as well.
He’s a short drive outside nyc, about 35-40 mins.
Highly recommend him.
Just get your bike fit at http://www.signaturecycles.com/ They are the best.
The price for the bike fit is just another New York experience. In a couple of years you will laugh about it.

Add this as yet another reason not to do business there.
I’ve had a fit at SBR when I bought my bike there a while ago because it was free. You get what you pay for. Having said that, some of the staff at SBR are very nice and they are one of the few places in town that has a good selection of triathlon product. Not the best price, but if you need a new trisuit in a pinch, it’s not a bad option. I’d trust them with my bike to make repairs but I’d hesitate to have some of LBS touch it.
As a New Yorker, my experience tells me to avoid trying to have one shop. Use a menu approach to take advantage of everything NYC has to offer. SBR is convenient if you work in midtown. R&A is a schlep and service is bad, but they have good prices and great selection - just know what you want exactly and don’t let the tatooed guy try to sell you their excess inventory instead because it’s better value. I went in trying to buy a pair of Bonts and he tried to sell me lower priced Shimanos but clearly didn’t know a thing about the two products. Then there are places like Endurancewerx/Signature where you the fit services are good, but not really product to choose from. Play the field!
Thanks so much for the advice! Now, know any good places to ride without getting killed and/or having to navigate massive amounts of other people and traffic lights?
Depending on where you live… make friends with your trainer/rollers. Central Park is definitely underrated. Just make sure to go after 8:30pm when most pedestrians, etc are gone. If you’re serious about training, you’d be crazy not to live close to Central Park for running and biking. I live 5 mins from the park and train in it practically every day weather permitting.
BAM! Great detective work.
In my experience, pretty much what you can expect from SBR.
